OK. This had a rant attached which I have since deleted that's why some of the replies don't make sence all were valid at the timeof posting.

My question is what size barrels should I use to represent the plaque mortar and the puss cannon on a nurgle plaque tower?

If memory serves the Nurgle plague tower is an apocalypse formation/unit (or whatever the current ed. equivalent is) these rarely appear in competitive play and if they do they are not strictly controlled and are covered by the general social contract of tabletop gaming. Short version 99% sure the cannons can be as big/small as you want, within reason.

With regards to thread necromancy...

At the risk of sounding like a bit of a d-bag please understand that these message boards are not here solely for your personal reference and pleasure.

The majority of people using this forum wish to discuss current painting & modelling topics/posts and shouldn't need to look far down the page to find them. Dredging up ancient threads clogs the news feed with topics the majority of people don't wish to discuss anymore.

For administration/adjudication purposes for the Moderation team there can be no exceptions; within reason.

To put it another way,
C'mon pal, that thread was 7 years old nearly!

Hi. Before I ask my question I would like to begin by apologising for entering a post that is neither new nor uncovered. I recently perpetrated an act of thread necromancy this I do not apologise for as the whole thread necromancy thing does not work to the advantage of the forum's comunity. I understand and agree that old posts should be available to read but not to post on, for all the reasons stated in the "What is thread necromancy and why is it bad" forum rule/explanation, but there is more that could be done to prevent it's occurrence.
If you have issues like this, make a post in the Nuts & Bolts forum and the moderation team will directly address it.
As it stands,it is unclear how long a thread must lie dormant before it dies
While you are techincally correct, I can promise you that a thread that has been dead for almost seven years qualifies as "long enough."
Having an absolute maximum time that a thread can be dormant before it dies in the forum rules would solve this problem. secondly, aren't the monitoring staff suposed to close the thread and put one of those no entry signs on it so you know you can read it but not post on it? I am fully aware it would be an impossible task to trawl through the whole forum for every dead thread. I would not want to take on such a task.
No, the moderation staff isn't going to start locking old threads and they shouldn't because as you yourself admit, it would be extremely difficult and time consuming to do it. It's really not hard to look at the the dates on the thread to see if it's been dead for a long time.
But how about when an instance of thread necromancy takes place you immediately block said thread so no one else can make the same mistake. But don't go shoving in bold red letters that someone perpetrated an act of thread necromancy on there as it is belittling to the person in question and i s essentially trolling. I have never come across a case of thread necromancy that wasn't accidental and as such should not be treated as an offence against the forum. accidents happen.
Dude, grow up. The moderators engage in discussion across the forum just like everyone else and the colored letters are used for when they put their "mod hats" on. Having a thread locked isn't a big deal and you aren't being "punished."
I will have to waist additional thread space with a question that I'm fairly confidant has already been answered in some unlocatable corner of Dakka.
If you have a question, you aren't wasting "thread space" on a board designed for asking questions and discussion.

The plague towers are a challenge build. I am allowed to use two miniatures sets and only five pre specifide materials for the entire build.

I ended up choosing a box of plaguebearers and a box ox of nurglings for my minis. Then ipicked sheets of chip board, card cerial packets, lollypop sticks, drinking straws, and strong card tubing as my materials. The rules also state you can use any singular components from the bits boxes but you cannot construct a complete figure from them or build a multi part component out of them sutch as a gun turret or a large engine they are for aesthetic purposes only.

Challenge builds are a great way to add truly unique units to an army while ensuring your creative muscle stays in good shape. It's really good fun too.

It's probably better to talk about Thread Necromancy in the Nuts and Bolts subforum. Leave the plague tower stuff for here, and move the rest to N&B, so any discussion in here is first and foremost about the plague tower.

Interested to see how the tower does turn out though.

well the real challenge with a challenge build like this one is making it strong enough for gaming and still having a solid aesthetic.

These plague towers are going to be played with quite a lot that's why I selected compressed chip board as one of my materials. It's incredibly strong, whilst still being light enough to push around a gaming table for several hours at a time.

I'm planning to make the wheels/tracks functional to reduce the need for lifting the models to move them. I do however put a lot of scenic details on the wheels/tracks/feet of my vehicles so it may not be possible "wheel" have to wait and see.

That last joke was awful, sorry. They're probably calling exterminatus on it as we speak.
