hi all, so I'm having some trouble with my airbrush. every time i press down on the trigger to let the air out it seems like the trigger catches.when I push down it will only let out a little bit of air but if i push down just a little more the air comes flooding out. it's like the trigger had some kind of catch in it as i push down and its either all or no air so i was wondering if anyone has had the same issue and know how to fix it?

I would take a guess at it needs to be striped down and cleaned it could have some paint stuck in there so you have to put more pressure to open the valve so you lose the control to regulate the air

Has it always been like this, or is it a problem that has developed over time?
If you pull the needle out before it is clean, you can introduce paint to places where paint shouldn't go. This is a pain to get out.
Also, some airbrushes just need a bit of lube on the trigger pin. This needs reapplying periodically.

Guide to airbrush troubleshooting:
1) Clean it
2) Clean it again
3) No, *really* clean it
4) OK, maybe it's something else

If you are using cheap end airbrush it could as well be just the trigger being crap, rather than having cleaning issues. No lube or trigger adjustments will change the performance.
However, just a question, because almost the same thing happen to me once. Did you dismember your brush recently to either fix it or clean it? I ask, because once I forget to assemble the Spring and when I was pressing the trigger it happened almost the same.
That's all I can think of or it could be just terribly clogged airbrush, because of poor maintenance. Like everyone said, you have to be really neat and maintain the tool after every use.

You can get really fine pipe brushes that will fit up the collet end (away from the point) to get paint out. Also, don't forget to lubricate the needle at the end of a painting session.

hey all thanks so much for all the advice. to answer a few questions yes i have recently taken it apart. i take it apart after every use to clean it however i haven't ever disassembled the valve portion. the other thing is i don't think it's a cheap airbrush it's a badger 105 so i don't thing that is necessarily the problem. although I've never lubed the needle so that's something i'll try also. as for if it's a new issue i can't really say because i really wasn't paying attention to how it functioned when i first got it and just jumped into trying to use it without really practicing thought it is something i'm going to monitor going forward. the other thing i'm going to try is turning the pressure down because i did increase the psi recently so i'll try that also.
