I am potentially about to acquire a new Wraithknight model (for a reasonable price, hurray!). Issue is, the WK will be glued together with basically every weapon option. So two Wraithcannons but also a sword and shield and 2 shoulder guns.

Think there's anyway he could be WYSIWYG for a tournament or casual play only?

It would not be WYSIWYG. The entire idea for that is you can look at the model and know how it is equipped.

You might be able to break off the options you don't want depending on how they are glued. Even better if you can then attach magnets to be able to swap out for different builds.

WYSIWYG is mandatory in tournament play.
In casual play not so much. Just let your opponent know which weapons you will use.
Magnetizing is not so easy for the WK but not impossible.

I mean technically he has the weapon options fitted, so yeah you could argue that it's wysiwyg.

I think you'd have to ask the TO or find a way of covering/blanking weapons that you weren't actally using in the list.

I only play wysiwyg, i prefer an army that is completely unpainted and without the most competitive units or wargear than a list full of proxies but ultra competitive and completely painted at pro level. In fact i magnetize almost everything that can be equipped with more options, especially the most expensive ones. The wraitknight is a typical model you should magnetize.

WYSWYG is what it says. What You See is What You Get. not model has the right weapons glued on. If you have a model with every weapon glued on, you are not getting what you see.

So the model will fail a pure WYSWYG test.

That said, for casual use, it should not be a major issue. I’d play against it without issue. Strict TOs/opponents might have an issue.

And if you're not confident enough to magnetize, use blu-tack. Plastic bits are actually pretty light so it'll hold together well-enough.

Oh I agree it's a stretch, but if the model has a wraithblade and scattershield on it, and thats what its listed as having, then you could argue that it is correct.

Personally, I agree with you and think it's a reach, which is why my suggestion to cover or blank the non-equipped weapons was thrown out there so you can look at it and go "I know what that dude has equipped".

If you play against someone like me your fine. I do not know what any weapons look like only things I hate because they hurt lol. I say live and let live.

The poll is actually coming out closer than I would have expected, but since the context of the original question was around tournaments I think that still tells you want you wanted to know. You have at the time of me posting a majority saying not WYSIWYG and tournaments tend to be more strict than players. You should expect at least some tournaments requiring WYSIWYG will have problems with this build.

I prefer the opposite so long as its realistic and close. For instances I have Several models that I use as proxies often. Ghazghkull doubles as a MA Warboss, I have 2 crazy looking nobz with weird weapons that function as either PK nobz or painboyz depending on my needs. I also have a big Nob on a Warbike that I use as my Warboss on warbike and another Nob carrying a GIANT SPEAR that I use as my Zhadsnark equivalent. Finally I have 5 Mek Gunz which I declare what they are before the game starts because I hate the actual Model (flimsy as all hell) and because I don't want to magnetize that much.

I think those are reasonable approximations. If you wouldn't play against me in a game I can live with that

Those are not proxies IMHO. A proxy is a can or a bottle as a drop pod or shoota boyz that count as slugga boyz, a normal nob that counts as a painboy/big mek/painboy, or a plasma gun on a SM that counts as a grav, or 5 meganobz that count as 5 dark eldar talos. Converting or downgrading a character to a standard HQ is totally acceptable, i use ghaz as a standard warboss too. I just noticed that many people complains about playing against unpainted army but they proxy all the time

Current guideline:
All models are expected to be WYSIWYG to a reasonable standard. Exceptions will be made for themed units or armies.
a. Using a proxy for a model violates our policy.
b. Using a reasonable substitute to “Counts As” another model, does not violate our policy.
c. If in doubt, send a picture in of a model to your TO in advance to ask if it is acceptable.

My vote to the original question is yes. One model can carry more war gears but it does not mean that it has to use all of them. View them as broken, non-functional or out of ammo. On the other hand, some war gears, such as cyborg body, grenade, stikkbombs, are difficult if impossible to put on every models.

This. My World Eaters have some AoS Khorne champions because they look awesome, and I'm using Red Butchers for my WE Terminators because they look awesome. The army is themed, and I don't go crazy with random upgrades on things that make it impossible to remember what has what. The ITC tournament I went to on Saturday was cool with all this and my opponents were fine as long as they could identify who had what (which you could).

So as long as you make sure to tell your opponent what weapons you are using that game and stick to that, you shouldn't have a problem.
