I decided to post a comment on the page, but just in case I get censored, I'll repost it here verbatim.

The Warhammer 40,000 universe is supposed to portray a cruel and malevolent setting utterly devoid of any humanity or kindness, as summarized in the phrase "grimdark," which is commonly used to describe the setting. It seems to me, that in a universe composed entirely of immoral villains, hell bent on exterminating literally everything they cannot enslave or exploit, expecting the characters to suddenly stop wearing fur out of moral considerations in entirely missing the point.

Scratch that. I didn't realize there were other comments until after I posted. It seems that at least 50 other people made the same point that I did

MFW I opened up my copy of White Dwarf last night, only to see all of those new Stormcast models covered in animal pelts.

PETA saying something dumb? Why do I feel like this has happened before...? before... before...

~fade out.~

~the soothing sounds of snoop dog's "drop it like it's hot" fade in~

~cell phones still flip~

~facebook has yet to be~

The Web was just going 2.0, and some enterprising idiots decide a holocaust themed AR campaign is exactly what Germany needed.

The last image dates it in 2005 but I did not mistype earlier. This campaign ran for quite a while.

It pisses everyone off, the "if ya really think about it crowd" gets turned off by all the anger, and PETA gets a couple of bucks and more volunteers for having their heart in the right place. Not too unlike how Trump pulled out his win.

Anyway, not to dwell. I'm pretty sure Germany forgave PETA after their next ad campaign.

They're like the Westboro baptists of animal welfare, if the Westboro baptists secretly engaged in homosexual orgies.

Gaming (tabletop, minis, video) skews young, often passionate, and to an extent immature. It's no surprise that their admitted trolling got them the reaction that they were after.

They admit as much (to the trolling/"awareness campaign") and it got them a lot of hits and a bunch of media attention.

They've closed the comments on that post, disallowing further discourse. I get the sense that in spite of their claim that they were simply trolling to highlight a more serious issue, inwardly they know they dun goofed and made themselves look like lunatics. And by they, I mean Dan Howe.
