So I've been reading the Imperials Agents Codex and I'm thinking of adding Inquisition units into my army. Do I have to use an "Allied Detatchment" from the Rules only? Or can I use the detatchments mentioned in the Imperial Agents Codex as an allied detatchment?

Do you mean formations? I'm pretty sure you can use those, though I'd definitely like to confirm that from others.

The Codex says they are Detatchments

I'm pretty sure you can use those too, but I'd definitely like to here others chime in on that.

Yea I just looked over the Rules. Definitely seems like you can use whatever detatchments you want as long as their respective "restrictions" don't say otherwise. Let's see what others say

From 'Selecting Detachments' in the 'Choosing Your Army' section of the rules:

"You can include any number and type of Detachments in a Battle-forged army provided you have sufficient units. Simply select a type of Detachment and organise some or all of your units so that they fit within the restrictions and limitations detailed on that particular Detachment."

In the case of Imperial Agents you could take the Detachments in that book, or if you prefer and are able, you could take an Allied Detachment.

an army can have as many detachment as you want, regardless of faction. And a formation is a special type of detachment. So you can have 10 detachment all with a different faction and you still don't have to take an allied detachment. In fact the faction you ask about can't even be taken in an allied detachment, because they don't have a troop choose.
