Got a box of empire knights for $20 and decided to make them into rough riders (that I might still use for AoS anyways, no one will mind). Can't decide how best to convert them though. I plan on using cadian bodies and heads, but not sure what I should do about arms. The current shoulders are fantasy armor, and thus have rivets and a more "plate-like" design, which makes them look different to flak armor. What's the best way to make the shoulders look more guard-like? Shave down the shoulders to make them rounded like guard armor, or cut them off just below the should and use lasgun shoulders? Also, what should I use for the left arm (one that isn't holding lance)? I wanted to use laspistols but they're all right handed (except for maybe vehicle crew ones, but don't have enough of those). Use chainswords, or use the knight shields? I could shave off the symbols, and possibly make GS aquilas or other imperium sybols. Here are some pictures to give you an idea of what I'm working with. Advice?

EDIT: Also, what's the best way to connect the horses to bases? They have the two slots the long rectangles connected to the hooves fit into. Cut those off, and just try to glue the hooves on? Shave the rectangles down but leave a bit on, then apply thick flock to cover them? Something else?

The lances, to show the current shoulders:

If you are a brave man, could try to do more "cadian" armor with green stuff.
For free arms, again with green stuff, could make them holding the horse reins, like realistic charging knights

maybe grenade launcher arm or any lasgun hand with a bit of green stuff work

Hmmm, that is tempting, although I'm rather inexperienced with GS. I'll look at where grenade launcher left arms line up, might also look at where the shield arms would sit.

I'd be tempted to just shave the rivets off. If they insist on being lancers in a battle full of tanks and laser guns, they probably need all the armour they can get. (Call it 'ablative' rather than 'flak')

I'm sooo, sooo sorry.
