I'll Be Back

Hey guys I'm just getting back into 40k with a space marine blood Ravens (using raven guard tactics) and I'd like some advice on what to get next or what sort of make up I should be building for.

1x captain shrike

1x termy Librarian

1x scout squad w/ 4 snipers and 1 rocket launcher

1x tactical squad with rocket and flamer

1x assault squad

With the upgrades that is 599, building from my 600p list.

If anyone has tips on how I should expand or change my current list.

What is your point target? What kind of play style do you want to pursue?

Having both Shrike and the Librarian as HQ choices is way to many points in such as small list.

If you want to stay fluffy to Raven Guard more scouts and assault squads. You could also easily add in a speeder for the cost of either one of your HQ options.

The Imperium of Man: White Scars - 1200, Raven Guard - 110 pts, Imperium - 550 pts
Tomb World: Nameless Dynasty - 270 pts

I'd be tempted to wait till next month for anything, I suspect gathering storm 3 might offer some VERY intreasting new SM options.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

First, welcome to Dakka.

Figure out what your point goal is, and how competitive you want to be. Take a look at some formations, and see if any appeal to you.

Think about your budget. Look into things that come bundled in a box; there are savings to be had there.

In a vacuum, I’d suggest a few things.

Decide if you want to go with drop pods or rhinos. Or a mix. But all tac squads need a transport. The armored assault boxes they just came out with are a nice deal. You need the transport, and extra bodies can always be put to use.

You probably want another tac squad anyway. A lot of the core formations need 3 of them.

If you want to run with the scouts and jump pacs that frequently show up in raven guard lists, a squad of scouts in a LSS and a unit of vanguard vets can be a lot of fun.

A dev box is useful, not just for getting some big guns in the backfield, but things like grav cannons for your tacs.
