Hey dakka,

I was wondering what eldar can bring to the table to supplement a pure Dark Eldar or a pure Harlequin army.

I was at first considering a tiny allied contingent (some bikes and an autarch for reserve modification), but after reading about all the cool guys they have (I already have Eldrad via Death Masque, but Yriel and Nightspear are also really cool) I was wondering what are some small hole patchers.

Harlequins stuggle with anti armour, so fire dragons? Are they good? they seem ignorable unless you pile in insane amounts of points into them.

Dark Eldar really lack survivability and reserve manipulation, so autarch plus maybe a wraith unit of some sort?

Both factions fliers are meh or non existent, so maybe a crimson hunter?

I would like to avoid any of the chessy units at all costs, Warp hunters look awesome, but are they weaker from their Corsair version? If they aren't I don't want to be fielding them.. Same with Wraithguard and the such.

I am really lost, as it feels quite difficult actively avoiding the cheesy units in the book, does anybody else have this problem?

Thanks everyone.

Warp hunters are ace. Even with their slight change (-1 on the D table instead of changing a 6 to 5), they're still an amazing tank, as they hit with D at strength 10 for the purposes of instant death. In fact, they are better as eldar since you can take ghostwalk matrix for move through cover and/or crystal targeting matrix, allowing you to shoot your shots after moving flat out (18" for a fast skimmer).

Honestly, the best addition to harlequins would be a skathach wraithknight as well. Stand alone, double inferno lances can't be beat for anti-tank duty, especially in any environment that nerfs D shots. Even then, I'd take an inferno knight over a normal knight in a heartbeat.

For Dark Eldar, I'm tempted to say harlequins are better allies if you wanted to keep a pure force. I know it's trite now, but the problem with adding eldar allies to dark eldar is really you start to get more and more reliant on the eldar portion of the list rather than the dark eldar aspect.

Lastly, wait til this weekend. Fracture should give us plenty of new ways to use all three eldar factions, possibly all at once in a whole new detachment.

I am very excited for the new Ynead worshiping detachment...

I guess we gotta see if its any good, or its just another Castellans of the Imperium

I love the warp hunter, rules and and the model, but in friendly games, is it too much? same with the knight?

When it comes to the leadership dependent attacks and leadership modifiers, I think they synergize really well.

The Freakshow articles should be getting an update shortly (waiting for the Ynnari supplement to drop first) but most of the stuff there is still useful as is.

Welcome to the Freakshow!

one of the top 8 in LVO had Quins with DE and I believe within the top 20 there were a few with DE and eldar allies.

Nah, no harlequins were in the top 8. They placed much lower, around 110?
A fair amount of eldar + dark eldar in the top 40 though.

There was a corsair list with double scalpel squadron in the top 8 though.
