So for rapid fire and heavy weapons, under their rules "models that shoot with heavy/rapid fire weapons in the Shooting phase cannot charge in the ensuing assault phase. Soulburst says immediately charge as if it were your charge sub phase

Say a unit of DE warriors with dark Lances shot at a unit. Another unit within 7" died triggering soul burst. Could they charge the unit they shot at assuming it isnt dead, using soulburst as it is not the Assault phase but your shooting phase and despite it being the charge sub phase, it is not the Assault phase. Keep in mind they can't attack until the Assault phase when the fight sub phase happens so charge sub phase does not equal assault phase.

In my mind since it is not the Assault phase they could legally charge now, and then in the Assault fight subphase, fight.

The rule states "as if it were their Assault phase". So if you cannot charge in your actual Assault phase, you cannot charge when something triggers Soulburst.

Along the same lines here, you also can only assault units you fired at. So lets say a unit of Wyches shoots their pistols and wipes out their target. Soulburst is triggered, they would not be able to assault a different unit, unless they use the Soulburst action to shoot it first, then assault as normal.

Check that, soul burst says as if it were there charge sub phase, unlike the previous 2 which says shooting phase and movement phase. I think RAW the charge phase does not refer to the whole assault phase, which rapid fire and heavy weapons specifically refer to.

Also I am assuming what the warriors shot at didn't die. Another units death triggered the soul burst.

Nevermind , I found that you can'take. Made the mistake in assuming the charge sub phase didn't have rules on this but it does. Ignore this thread, RAW you can't charge using soulburst firing rapid fire or heavy weapons.

Le sigh
