Hi Guys,

I have about 12,000 pts of Eldars goodness and I'm about to sell the lot, including 2 Revenants and a Phantom. I thought I would keep just enough to play the occasional casual game. Hence two questions:

- How much points would you keep?
- What model would you keep?

Thanks for helping me on this. I know it's a toughy (Well, for me).

I'd try to decide on a fun, themed list, probably around 1500 points. With the new gathering storm release I'd be tempted to keep all the guardians and use them as black guardians for some fun deep strike shenanigans. Other possibilities could be a wraith list, a falcon bomb, a light vehicle list of war walkers, hornets, vypers, etc. Once you decide on a list you think you'll be able to have fun with, choosing which models to keep should be easier

I’d probably cut it down to around 3,000 points. That should give you a lot of options for putting a 1,500 to 2,000 list together and be able to swap things in/out.

As for what models:

First anything with sentimental value. Gifts, things you won in tournaments, first mini, etc.
Anything with retro-nostalgic value.
Anything you are particularly proud of the paint job, or just like the looks of.

But in a vacuum:
One of each aspect warrior squad
A squadron of war walkers/vypers/atrillery.
1-2 of each tank, few extra WSs
~30 guardians, with platforms and warlocks
A dozen bikes
Assorted HQs.

Look at the formations, and probably keep enough to field them if you can. Don’t bother with getting a lot of duplicates of the same unit. You might not be able to make top end tournament lists without spamming, but a varity of units should serve you well for fun lists at the FLGS, and is good for a long term strategy. Nerfs/buffs happen, but by having a broad collection, you should be able to rotate in some of whatever is good atm.

That is good food for thoughts. Thank you both.

Good quality out of casting metal models tend ot keep their value as well. It's a bit hit and miss, but in general anything good and in metal will remain at a good value for al ong while; heck some have gone up as time has passed if the newer sculpts aren't as popular or go out of production (eg the old slaanesh demonetts).

I'd also suggest holding into any very high priced items; the titans would be worth considering holding onto for the amount of time invested in purchase, assembly and painting. There is also potential there for the price to go up as Forgeworld does retire some models over time (although they tend to be a lot slower than GW to retire things).

Keep the Titans for at least another year. I've heard a rumor that we will see a new revenant Titan (or new gun options) this year. Not sure which salt mine that came from, but I heard that around Christmas time. Same guy told me that there would be an avatar resculpt to our. Not sure if he meant the new avatar for yneade

Take this with a grain of salt (as I don’t own a titan myself) but I’m going to disagree with the guys suggesting you to keep them.

Even when you were actively playing your Eldar, how often did they see the table? I know locally, we might see an apoc game once a year or so. So the odds of using them are going to be very low. I’m going to assume that you have reasons for downsizing your collection. If they are financial, that’s a chunk of cash tied up in the titans, and their value may go up, or down. If it’s space constraints, titans are big. Infantry can pack tight, but the big stuff needs custom storage and a lot of space.
