Normal animals tend to be few and far between in miniatures. There are lines of anthropomorphic animals, and all sorts of chimera- mostly of predators.

Most animal minis are either animal companions or mounts. Arena Rex has a neat opportunity- their setting has quite a few plain old animals in it (from my theatre history, animals were features in the colosseum more often than gladiators fighting one another).

The animals of Arena Rex are just as well sculpted as the humans and monsters of the line- they’re absolutely beautiful minis and take to paint brilliantly.

I think I see a possibility for an ork mount in the future here...

Nice paint job as well!

Don't forget to eat your Khorne Flakes every morning! It is psychotically good!

Lovely brushwork. Only bit which stands out to me is the tusk. It appears to be painted like bone, which isn't really what it is on a normal one (it's actually more combined hair/dead cells). So that looks a little odd to me - other than that I love it.

I have to echo Elbows' sentiment. It's fantastically done, and I really do enjoy seeing your work whenever it gets posted, but from a realism point-of-view, the horn should be roughly the same grey as the skin. But I will admit, it actually took Elbows pointing it out for me to notice it.

I am not a rhino expert, but from some images the horn does take on a bone-like appearance.

Very cool - a top notch treatment of an usual subject (for Dakka anyway).

I did do horn research- and yes- most rhino horns are a very similar color to the rhino.

Sometimes, they are different, though, and I felt that gave me an opening to make it contrast against the rhino skin with the light to dark fade (which I feel makes for a better composition in the mini). And as with all miniatures painting, I emphasized the contrast.

As always, you guys can decide how successful I was.
