Is it a GW/Citadel model? Yes

Same trukk that was sold for the 40K Orks way back when? Yes.

It's legal.

Well as long as the turnament organizer or your friend or your random opponent agrees to it, you could virtually field whatever you fancy.

Bolt Action: Germany/ USA

Not only is it a legal gw model but it's still being sold as a legal gw model. It's part of the vedros line. So it hasn't even been discontinued. It would be a pretty bad tournament organizer to disallow it.

You might have issues using all the old metal bikes, trakks, and buggies and the old 4 arm dead dred. Those models are tiny and has been replaced for a while.

Definitely you can use. The main argument is when you mix the old models with the new one. For example, the current trukk is bigger than the old gorkamorka one. So, some players will feel that you are taking an advantage if you are using it along with the current trukk. My advice is that you should be consistent in your army. Either you field with all old models or use appropriate based size if mixed.
The same argument goes with the deff dread vs the old model. You can easily overcome it by field it on a right size base since the distance is measured from base to base.
WYSIWYG does not apply to size. Proxy from old models are allowed in a theme army according to the later ITC rules. The consensus is that you should use whatever the base that comes with the model and be consistent. You cannot have one figure on a smaller size than others!
Finally, the actual difference is quite small, rarely more than an inch to make a significant impact. When your opponent is that picky and so seriously, it won't be fun to play with him. In the current environment, if anyone loses to an Ork army, it is because you play well or he is bad, not because you take the advantage of a smaller size.

The size difference is quite significant since 40k has changed scales over the years. But the old trukk is still sold, and you are allowed to use oop models so have fun with it.

I have a bunch of older Ork stuff (including the trukk). I was considering converting some of them to be roughly the same size as modern models and look better.

I've started to lean towards just leaving them the way they are and not playing with them. Then, in the unlikely event someone gives me any hassle about my kitbashed stuff I can pull out the tiny but legal model and offer to play with that instead.

What's the size difference between the older metal deff dread and the new plastic one? I think I might be the only person who really likes the old metal one and isn't very fond of the new one. I scored a cheap WHFB giant off ebay and I want to convert it into a horrifying giant cybork Frankenstein monster that counts as a dreadnought, and I was looking to make it the same size as the current plastic dreadnought.

I had two old trukks and converted to be buggies.... they're really too small to be trukks. It's like the old ghaz model, he's smaller than an ork boy, maybe it's legal to use it, but I won't accept it.

But that's my perspective, I would accept them if an opponent wants to use them.

The previous metal deff dread has the same size of the new one, just a little smaller but not as much as those two trukks pictured.
