Hi everyone! It took me quite awhile but I finally chose an army to play! I decided to go with alpha legion since they have a fun and varied play style where I'd be able to mix it up a little. However when reading through the fluff I came into a few things I was thinking of.

Can the alpha legion use mark V armour? I much prefer the mark V armour to the mark IV or mark II armour, however I only see pictures of mark IV. It's not a huge deal breaker for me but it would suck regardless. Also, there is no Alpharius model, which makes sense, but when playing him or revealing him do people use a special model or a proxy? I have a few alpha legion models just from collecting, and while it makes sense that they all look the same, tabletop wise I think alpharius needs a standout model, even if it isn't some 100 dollar character series model.

Also, when building the army, how do people fit alpharius and vehicles in at the 2k point level? I've been trying to write a list but it seems like it's either alpharius OR heavy support vehicles.

Thanks for the help!

Edit: also, can traitor armies take knight allies or is that only loyalist armies?

All legions had all marks to varying levels as far as i know so while some marks are favored by certain legions warhammer scale is one that allows all armours be used at will

Mark 5 armour hasn't really begun to become common in the sort of timeframe the books published so far at covering (apart from perhaps Book 4 Conquest). That's also why there's not so many miniatures of mk 5 released (no command models or officers, for example).

As for the poits values, yes. At smaller games (which 2,000 points is), you'll have trouble fitting it all in. my 2,000 point list has Fulgrim, a Dreadnought, a laser Vindicator and some Kakophoni, but Fulgrim's cheap, and I've got no Fast Attack.

Just don't put alpharious against any other primarch or custodes hq in combat, he is weakest primarch of them all.
Also, remember if you put him in vehichle he does not confer hatred rule to legion.

Good legion, I have yet to have 2 same lists so far, always changing things...

Frankly I think playing primarchs at 2K is a waste - you're tying up 450+ points(a quarter of your points!!) in a single model. I'd much rather see them used at 2.5K, 3K, or higher points games.

As far as proxies go, I believe a lot of people use the Kabuki Miniatures model for Alpharius.

This is what I use for my alpharius. (the Kabuki model Mr. Grey mentioned)

To answer your edit addendum;

Yes of course you can take a knight as a traitor force. Knight households were very numerous and backed different sides of the war for countless different reasons. Anyone that wants to tell you otherwise isn't anyone worth playing with

Good to know I think I'll turn my unpainted knight into start of knight ally force for my sons of horus. Just need one or two more.
