GW currently sell two canonesses, the old metal one for £8.20 and the new Canoness Veridyan resin one for £15. From a Codex pov, they're pretty much identical, aren't they? From a modelling perspective, they both look pretty cool in photos, but I suspect the newer one has better detail in real life? It's a shame I can't get to look at them before buying. Can anyone tell me how they compare? The new one comes on a 32mm base, yet size wise I imagine they're pretty similar as battle sisters aren't very big? My other battle sisters are all metal, so I'm inclined to stick with metal for consistency - does that really matter? I've never bought a resin model.

Gaming wise, the new one is 85 points versus 65 and the only difference, as far as I can tell, is she adds some extra weapons options and has the "clinical precision" rule, whatever that is. Is it worth it? I'm more of a modeller than a gamer.

Why haven't they withdrawn the old model, like they did with Celestine? Are they just waiting to get rid of existing stock?

The main difference is obviously the price. The new one is nearly double! For that reason, I'm inclined to buy the old one. In my head, I haven't quite come to terms with the concept of spending £15 on a single, small, model.

I'm a noob, so any advice from those that have painted and/or played with both models, please? Will I eventually regret buy the old, metal model?

They both serve different purposes.

The standard canoness comes with 5 arm options if I remember well.

Bolt pistol and Inferno pistols hands.
power sword, chain sword and scroll hands.

I've re-used those hand options on various other SOB models to customize them. It's not easy with them being metal, but it's also not very hard if you're careful.

She starts at 65 points, but will likely get higher as you take relics and/or other wargear.

Veridyan comes with her options already configured and has an extra special rule on top. (Precision shot/strike in a 12 inch bubble). Nothing prevents you from playing her as a standard canoness, but you'll be stuck with her weapon configuration if youre playing WYSIWYG. She is fragile with no invulnerable saves except for her 6++. If you decide to go for her special loadout/rules, you need to do so with a plan to maximize that 12 inches of precision shot.

In either cases the canoness is still a shadow of what she used to be in codex witchhunter. You're better off having your army lead by a priest, Jacobus or Celestine.

Thanks. I'm not fussed about her being competitive as I only play against my lad. I mainly just want a cool looking model that is decent value for money. I would have bought the metal Celestine but that is no longer available and I'm not forking out £50 for the new one, although getting from ebay is tempting.

Just go with the model you think looks better, especially if you're more of a collector than a player.

Also, remember that you can use Veridyan as a counts as normal Canoness, you don't have to use her special rules.
