Hi Guys

Im currently trying to build up some Destroyer squads for 30k and want to get lots of bolt pistols for left and right hands. Would it be easier for me to do this by getting a squad of assault marines assuming they have a 50/50 distribution of left and right handed pistols or should i go with khorne bezerkers. im going to be using mk3 armour.

I dont want to get them from Forgeworld as in South Africa they probably wont ever arrive and will cost me what i paid for my car in shipping.

Doesn't FW have free shipping above a certain order threshold? I think it's 250 GBP - which is a lot, but it's pretty easy to spend 250 GBP at Forgeworld.

For me (in Canada), it was only slightly more expensive to buy MkIV Assault Marines from FW than it would be to buy boxes of plastic assault marines from GW, once that 250 threshold was crossed. Your concern over shipping speed is probably valid, though.

Looking at the GW webstore, it seems that Assault Marines are all right handed with boltguns. Khorne Berserkers seem to be both left and right equipped.

Note you can cannibalize bolt pistols from anywhere and witch their handed-ness, and most SM players will have tons of extra bolt pistols sitting around. Ask your local gaming group and see how many you can scrounge up.

Thanks man yeah with the South African postal service its more likely that i just find a squad of destroyers on my lawn than it actually arrives. Ill definitely ask around the club.

Generally speaking, swapping from chainsword to bolt pistol isn't difficult: cut the pistol off just above the hand and off the front of the hand, slice the chain sword off clean just above the hand and clean off and spikes or protrusions from the guard, and then just glue together with plastic glue--not a lot of handedness to the pistols, mostly just the hands. Not sure which comes with more pistols though.
