As stated in the title, but primarily focused at 3rd party manufacturers. I have yet to delve into the realm of purchasing 3rd party bits/models to use as 40k models (I did use Reaper for WHFB, though). As such, does anyone have any good suggestions about some 3rd party models that would go well with bashing together some chaos cultists? I like the GW ones, don't get me wrong, but I can only field like three of the same mono-pose model before I can't take it anymore. I'd like some variety in my cultists that hopefully doesn't break the bank

Maxmini and AnvilIndustries make good models, though they are primarily conversion bits companies.

Other than that take a look in the sci-fi section of a site like weyland games and see if you find anything you like.

Look into Frostgrave cultist models w/ arm swaps.


Multipart plastic kit.

You can go with FW vraks renegade militia, but buy from 3rd party recasts to keep it cheap. Add in some DV cultists for more variation as they come with champ/heavy/assault cultists in addition to the normal 5 poses. Modify them a bit here and there like clipping off the bayonet, adding a spike on top of the club etc.

If you go full 3rd party, go with madrobot miniatures and/or Victoria miniatures; they both have massive variation that would fit your style, and they're fully compatible with existing IG kits to mix and match. My personal favorite is the 'Sons of Anarchy' personality heads from madrobot.

I was in the same boat as you. I did a mix of Dark Vengeance cultists, Genestealer cultists, WHF Empire militia, and frostgrave cultists. You can pick up the first 2 for very cheap, then mix in other bits for variety in weapons, poses, and heads.

There are also some really good 3rd party minis out there, though they tend to be a bit more expensive. http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/ is a great place for some awesome prisoners, praetorians, etc, as well as a ton of bits.
