Hi!

I'm new to the grim world of Warhammer 40k and I just started painting and playing last summer.

With this information and the Subjects name me and my friends have ALOT of problem trying to understand the rules for all vehicles in WH, this is really anoying because I play as IG (Imperial Guard) and i really want to use my Leman Russ on the battlefield.

So can someone please inform me short about the vehicle rules so that i can start playing as soon as possible

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

What exactly are you confused about? We are not allowed to post full rules here, only answer rules queeries.

Hello there, and welcome to the forum.

Is there anything in particular you need help with, any specific questions? Basically, we aren't allowed to just blurb out the rules as they are printed, but we can offer a lot of assitance. I don't just want to say "Read the rules starting at page 72 of the rulebook", but I cannot just as well start to elaborate on the entire chapter and any specific add-ons in other books (such as Death From The Skies, which adds new rules to flyers).

You say you want to use your Leman Russ on the battlefield. So, what is it about the Leman Russ, for example, that you find difficult? Is it the movement? The difference between Toughnes and Armour Value? The way its weapons work?

I just want to know what you do when you attack a vehicle of some sort like a Tombblade or a Leman Russ Battle Tank.

Tomb Blades aren't a vehicle.

It would probably help if you read the rules first and then came to use with questions for what you need clarified

In general, you roll to hit, but there's rolls to see if you get through the armor (a penetration roll) instead of a roll to wound. You'll need to read in the book about vehicle facings so you know what armor's appropriate. This is covered on page 75 to 77 of the rules. The rules on page 75 cover what to do if you get a glancing or penetrating hit.and page 76 has the table referred to in the penetrating hits section. If there's anything more specific you have a question about after you read these sections we can try to clear it up, but those pages I first mentioned are the general rules for shooting at vehicles. (Before that are some rules for how to handle the battle tank shooting at other things.)

From what I see here, the problems start at Unit Type, which is explained in its own chapter in the rulebook, not justthe Vehicles rules. And, of course, the Games Workshop Designer ability to mess with your mind by assigning seemingly random types to models that, by all logic, should be another type alltogether.

All models can potentially have multiple types small to big. I'll give an example of each. Stormboyz are orks with rocket packs. They classified as both Jump and Infantry and follow the rules for both Infantry and Jump units a Nob leading the squad further follows rules under Character.

An example for vehicles is the Ork Truck. It's Fast, Open Topped, Transport, Vehicle. Each header has sections in the book (some entries larger then others) and the model follows all of them.

You literally have to reference many different rules for your army from multiple sources like the rest of us. Welcome to experiencing rules bloat.

I would also recommend reading the Vehicle Squadron rules a little farther on once you have this part down, as they are for your Vehicles which have two or more models in the unit.
