PrintableScenery.com are running their 3rd kickstarter project, 'Time Warp'.

Already the kickstarter has passed its funding goal, currently running at NZ $41,820 with 360 backers it has so far unlocked 7 stretch goals, and with 25 days still to go it is likely many more stretch goals will be unlocked.

This 3D printable scenery kickstarter follows on from their previous kickstarters 'Winterdale' and 'Apocolypse Ruins' and their Indiegogo campaigns 'Winterdale 2' and 'Rampage', all of which were phenominally successful. After 6 days 'Time Warp' is beating all the previous campaigns.

The 'Time Warp' campaign has three basic sets of 3D printable models, 'Time Warp - The Americas', 'Rampage Castle', and 'Time Warp - Europe', all three can be backed as seperate entities (NZ $60 each) or in combinations of any two (NZ $90 each combination), with the combined 3 sets level set at NZ $130 (which is likely to be the most popular. (There were 200 'Early Bird' pledges for the combined all 3 sets at NZ $115 but these have already been taken - though look out there may be the odd one that drops, so if you are a backer keep your eyes open.)

Bonus Items available with any combo-pledge

I'm interested, but I've got some questions. Do you know what kind of considerations the designs make as far as:
needing supports?
overhang angles?
detail size?
mesh resolution?
These things will greatly impact how easy a file is to print, the finished quality, and the time-to-print.

For example, if the files have embossed details smaller than ~0.3mm planar and ~0.1mm thickness then most consumer-level printers will not be able to print them at full detail. And if there are overhangs of more than ~45deg then you have to start printing supports which will increase print time and, depending on if you have a dual extruder and/or what material you are using, decrease final print quality.

Yes, we sure do. When we design the models we design them specifically for 3d printing. We work to get the model to look great and print perfectly. As with any manufacturing process,we need to take the production machine into account when designing.

99% of our models don't need supports to print or we build in supports that can be easily removed without damaging the model. For example, The lifting gate prints with the gate in place, held with tiny built-in supports thus allowing the model and the gate to be printed at the same time without supports. This youtube video shows how we make the Necro Sliding door.

The printer will also tolerate a certain amount of span across a gap. This allows us to do things like use window frames as supports. Also, some architecture is self-supporting such as the medieval gothic arch. (maybe they knew something back then)

If we do need to put supports in a model then we put them where they don't affect the look of the model. like underneath hidden parts

Our mesh resolution is high so quality is limited to the resolution of the printer. High quality is a layer height of .1mm and standard quality is about .2mm. Layer height refers to the vertical resolution (Z) of the printer and not the X-Y resolution. The X-Y resolution is not really an issue as the printer can move in any X-Y increment during printing.

More important is the accuracy of the printer, If the printer lays down the lines perfectly on top of each other then you can't see the lines. Accuracy is related to printer speed and printer design quality. For example, a Davinci 1.0 has very low accuracy compared to a Prusa i3 Mk2 which has amazing accuracy and produces unbelievably good prints. You can speed your printer up for quicker prints with less quality. http://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/59-original-prusa-i3-mk2-kit.html

The image below is a print from the Prusa i3 Mk2 printed at .2 without supports. The braces of the posts act as supports when printing and the foot planks are printed separately

These are the some of the 'walkways' which are part of the new campaign

Man, this stuff is so awesome! I would be all over this if I had access to a decent printer.

Yes, that's correct the resolution is determined by the layer setting which can be as low as 0.05mm on the Prusa i3, I should have said "The most apparent quality setting is the layer height"

Machine Nozzle size is different to maximum resolution because it's related to the heat - flow - speed - pressure) so you can print .005 mm accurately with a 4mm machine nozzle size.

Anyway, you don't really need to worry about this when printing, just select, Low - medium or high quality.

Good job guys! I had seen this on reddit, and if I hadn't just blown my load buying the printer itself I would be all over it! as it stands I need to satisify myself by printing some of the free terrain thats available.

Overnight in an update Matt from PrintableScenery.com announced yet another bonus item, a 'Soul Burner'.

Matt at PrintableScenery.com has just put out a new update (#7) for the 'Time Warp' kickstarter announcing a free Trebuchet!

The Trebuchet took 6 hours to print (presumably on the Prusa i3 Mk2 printer).

Now how many gamers would love to have a battery or two of trebuchets for their armies.

Could we see an image of the ballista or the trebuchet next to a 28mm model?? Looks great, but would like to see it next to a 28mm model, if possible.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

@JBSchroeds - Until Matt replies (and likely contradicts me ) I think it would be safe to assume from what Matt has said in previous campaigns he is likely to have used PLA.

The idea of using ABS may well be an option for the Demogorgon and other such figures so that it could be smoothed with acetone as it does not look like there are any really sharply designed angles in the design (such as you get with buildings, etc.).

Matt at PrintableScenery.com has announced another Bonus Item, a Battering Ram!

This means that the free Bobus items now include a Ballista, a Catapult, and the new Battering Ram.

In Update #11 Matt also says " I think that we need one more siege engine, and this time something big ! " The betting within the backer community in the comments is that it will be a 'Siege Tower'. (Some glimpses of it may just have been visible over Matt's shoulder in the recent Kickstarter 'Live Feed' - viewable on replay at:
https://live.kickstarter.com/printable-scenery/live-stream/time-warp-3d-printed-scenery-kickstarter-update . )

With just under 5 days to go the 'Miners Shack' is, at the time of writing, just NZ$742 away from being unlocked.

After the Miners Shack that unlocks at NZ $75,000 the remaining listed stretch goals are:

- NZ $80,000 'Advanced Wooden Stairways'
- NZ $85,000 'The Stone Barn'
- NZ $90,000 'Rundown Store / Jail'
- NZ $95,000 'Operational Drawbridge'

Also announced is that either one or both ships from previous crowdfunding campaigns will be added ('The Frigate' and the 'Viking Long Boat') as an 'add-on' for those who missed the opportunity of acquiring previously.

Few are doubting that all the present stretch goals will now be unlocked, and even possibly more stretch goals announced over the last few days remaining.
