Hey guys, recently came back to 40k and am torn between Admech/Skitarii War Convocation and a Tzeentch army (because the new Kairos model is so damn awesome). I devised this 1850, hopefully competitive, Tzeentch army which includes my favourite models and was wondering if you guys could tell me how I could improve it. I also wanted to know how I could trim it to 1500 without using the major units I like.

Heralds Anarchic (365pts)

Herald of Tzeentch
Disc of Tzeentch, Paradox, Psyker Level 3

Herald of Tzeentch
D6 Exalted Daemonic Reward, Disc of Tzeentch, Psyker Level 3

Herald of Tzeentch
Disc of Tzeentch, Psyker Level 1

Chaos Daemons CAD (640pts)

Kairos Fateweaver (300pts)
Warlord

Blue Horrors (50pts)
10x Blue Horrors

Pink Horrors of Tzeentch (90pts)
10x Pink Horrors

Screamers of Tzeentch (200pts)
8x Screamers

Chaos Space Marines CAD (845pts)

Sorcerer (75pts)
Mark of Tzeentch, Power Armour, Veterans of the Long War

Chaos Cultists (60pts)
Cultist Champion, 9x Cultists, Mark of Tzeentch

Chaos Cultists (60pts)
Cultist Champion, 9x Cultists, Mark of Tzeentch

Magnus the Red (650pts)

Looks decent.could the oracular Dias help with alpha strike denial?
Downgrading horrors could free up some points

I would say you replace the blue/pink horrors with brimstones. Ya they are fragile but leave them in cover and just hold objectives. WIth spare points invest more in screamers and heralds.

I have a question as to what powers I should be rolling on with my 20 odd warp charges.

Do I have to summon more demons? Because I really hate that play style.

I also like the pink horror models so I'm not too comfortable downgrading them to brimstones.

I mean, obviously you will have to summon a fair amount. There's only so much damage you can do with 3 units throwing witchfires.

Paradox is excellent for summoning (5 dice), and Magnus can drop flaming chariots on 4 dice.

I mean Is 3 units a turn too many?

I just find it really gimicky to do. If I have to summon more demons I don't think i'll play Tzeentch demons despite how much I love the new models.

Is there no list I can run where I don't need to summon additional models?

Summoning is generally the Daemon gimmick except with Khorne but then you are going combat heavy with a Thirster and usually belakor

To be perfectly honest if you're paying 365 points for your heralds and not summoning 365+ points with them during the game you've basically brought 3 super expensive useless models.

Ok, one of them needs to hold the grimoire, fine, but other than that their witchfires are pretty terrible compared to what Magnus and Fateweaver can use without even having to roll for powers.

Think of it less as a gimmick and more like a pre game investment where you have the option to bring in whatever you need during the game - the heralds themselves are pretty useless even with flickering fire, and will never make their points back without summoning something. Flickering fire really isn't that great anymore and can waste a lot of WC.

That's okay, i've decided to play Cult Mech now, thank you guys for clarifying stuff. You should be able to find my Cult Mech list in the forum too if you don't mind critiquing that too.

Thanks ^_^
