Hi Guys,

Russ' sever life doesn't mention unsaved wounds, just mentions wounds. Does this mean lets say Russ hits 5 times, and then all 5 of those hits cause a wound against the unit he is in combat with, does he straight away get to roll d3 for each of these, potentially bringing the wound pool to 20 wounds before allocating any? It is about the only ruling that mentions unsaved wounds, but how does a model suffer a wound before the wound has left the wound pool to be saved against?

Or does it happen as you empty the wound pool? Allocate this wound to this model, before I roll to save you do the toughness test thing and that model potentially suffers an extra d3?

EDIT EDIT: Every occurrence of "suffers a wound" in the rule book seems to occur before the save, so surely its allocate a wound, do the toughness test and d3, then roll that many saves (if you are allowed saves against that weapon) on that particular model, the wound arent in the wound pool so to speak, they're against that model, so much like strength D wouldn't carry over yeah?

The rest of the sentence is the clarifier, it specifies this happens after they have been wounded but not slain, that clears up that it happens after saving throws, if any.

Its a very odly worded rule, And it says suffers when you have failed a save, but also says suffers at AP2 (meaning before saving)

I hope they remove the AP2 in the FAQ (for more awsomesause and less micromanageing the envitable death of the opponent)

If they removed the ap2 it wouldn't even be doing anything. Most models that would even take more wounds are either primarchs or elite terminators a lot of these boast 3++ and FNP realistically the sever life hardly ever will do wounds, since you can use both of those arguably it might be weaker than instant deathing on average as at least that removes FNP.

So everyone here seems to be in the "it happens after the save" camp...interesting..that would work better for me since I am vsing Russ and not using him, doubt I will sway my opponent opinion based on a single forum thread sadly.

100% is after saves says only a model that is wounded but not slain. And "slaying" happens after saves.

Strange usually the rules are clear on this:

suffers a wound= succesfull to wound roll.

suffers an unsaved wound= failed/ ignored save roll

Yeah I thought this initially, but then after reading through the rule book (ctrl + f to find every instance of "suffers a wound") and all but one instance talking about suffering a wound happens BEFORE the saving throw...so.....I dunno. I wont be able to persuade this fella otherwise without something more concrete anyway.

In my mind it goes like this:

You are Hit
You are Wounded (IE Suffer a Wound)
You then check if you are slain

There fore it suggests Russ' rule takes place between points 2 and 3.

However it only kicks in after point 3, it onl;y happens after youve checked whether you were slain or not.

Yeah, they are working on FAQ, and will not respond to rules questions untill then. I saw the screengrab from a 30k facebook page.

In that case I am fine with them ignoring my rules queries, happy to wait for an FAQ that resolves some of the uncertainties!
