Just wondering, has anyone ever bought from this company before? Their cases seem fairly value for money and the shipping doesn't seem like a killer for world wide. The shelves seem to be already made from metal so that solves the need to get another insert for magnetization.

They had a Indiegogo campaign running last year under the name of "Feldmaster". They changed the name, I'm guessing because of the similiarity with Feldherr.

Thread: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/680295.page

They initially offered only a large version, which wasn't worth it imo. They introduced a smaller version (which is now on Kickstarter), which was a good price. I bought it.

They kept their timeframe for delivery. At least for me, I got multiple updates after already receiving mine, where it was clear they had issues with the big cases and the cover not fitting the frame. I believe they replaced the covers at no additional cost for backers.

The product is good, the frame was aluminium, the trays metal. It's light, but durable. The strap has a good length, the cover is good material.
I scrolled through the Kickstarter and they obviously adressed some of the few weak points of the case, mainly the moving metal trays. It wasn't more than a few milimeters, but good to see the clanking fixed. The frame is now metal, which I guess is good and the additional weight shouldn't matter that much with the size of the case.

The creator, Alexander, cares a lot about his product. They offered no building instructions upon delivery and although simple once you figure it out, it took some time to figure it out how to build it. I contacted them about it. Alexander send out a backer update with an assembly video in under a day. Furthermore, Alexander called me and apologized that it was simply too obvious for them after months of creating this product that the thought never crossed their minds. We talked some about our kids and what he's doing. He's a great guy and I'm happy that they are moving along to Kickstarter after learning the ropes on Indiegogo.

I can wholeheartedly recommend the case and the company.

Backed. The early bird offer was too tempting to refuse!

Thanks for the review, Hans! I've backed it now

Could you tell me how many trays you use in your smaller one? With the frame now being steel, I'm wondering if you could put minis on the bottom area with no tray, giving you 4 equally spaced areas to put minis in. Does that make sense?

The Indiegogo 'edition' had 3 trays with fixed positions. I'd have to measure mine when I get home from work, but the Kickstarter one seems the same size, but with mutiple tray positions. The 'old' frame was aluminium, but even if it was metal, it was a cross as the base. The new one seem to have a solid base, so yeah, putting miniatures in without a tray might work. But note: the trays are removable which speeds up packing and unpacking quite a bit as you can remove them from the frame.

The big case from Indiegogo was one tray position only but with a large footprint. Seems like they dropped it completely.

Backed as well. I'm glad to hear the previous campaign delivered on time. Looks like this one might blow up a bit - it's currently at 300% with 28 days to go. Hopefully that won't affect the timeline too much.

I have the old case which is great, the new case has multiple tray positions which is awesome but I noticed that the rails that the tray is located on dont go the full length of the case, there is an initial guide at the front and a locator at the back.

What this means is that as soon as the tray is pulled out past the rear locator the weight of the tray needs to be supported, most likely by having fingers under the tray. Having fingers under the tray means that you need a gap between the underside of the tray and the models on the tray beneath which would reduce the capacity of the case.

Edit - They have replied to my concerns and said "you wont have this problem"

so maybe the front locator is long enough to prevent the tray tilting.

This is over $80k now, I hope they've planned for enough production capacity

Presumably if you are holding the front of the tray as you pull it out, then it will only pivot if you let go? And that's only if the runners are indeed as you describe.

I'm definitely interested in this, keeping an eye out, not made my mind up yet!

Maybe the front locator is wide enough and the tolerances close enough to ensure minimal vertical movement if the tray is balanced on that point only.

This seems to be a common thing with KS - lots of focus on making and shipping the product, complete lack of documentation, good to see it was addressed quickly

Thinking of backing but not sure if I should get the double-pack (2 cases, 6 shelves total) or the level 4 (1 case, 6 shelves)
