Subject: Making Harakoni Warhawks

So inspired by some art work (see spoiler) and the fact that I'd like to remove as man DKoK Grenadiers models from my Stormtroopers list, I want to a squad of Harakoni Warhawks Stormtroopers. I got a couple of ideas regarding what I'll do, but I am not if all of these would work.
My plan is to grab the FW Cadian rebreather heads kit and a GW Cadian kit, a pack of 10 FW Gravchutes and Anvil Armory plates and sniper scopes. From there I'd cut the Cadian lasgun barrel before the hand and cut away the muzzle from the piece that's left, and then glue the muzzle on the hand-held part. I'd also like to cut the top of the lasgun (the sorta scope/carry handle part) and replace that with the AI sniper scope. For the back, I'd glue the gravchute pretty high on the model's back, to leave enough on the lower back to put the packs that are included in the FW respirator kit. Then get some wire and complete the '' hellgun '' look. Finally I'd use the armor plates to bulk up the models.
Now the things I am not too sure about: Cut down lasguns, will they look good. Are there enough space in the backs of the Cadians to fit both the gravchute and the packs? Will the Anvil Industry parts fit well with Cadians, and if they don't are there alternatives? Is there a way to make the FW helmets look less Cadian-ish? I've already got Kasrkins so I'd like to distinguish the two models as much as possible.

Just use the tempestus hell gun arms, trim the plastic by the shoulder to fit the cadian torsos; elysian grav pack should work on cadian torso with some adjustment; masked cadian heads will work, not sure where you should get the legs though, perhaps something from madrobot mimiatures.

I've done it in the past, I didn't trim anything admitedly, but it looked really akward. That's part of the reason why I want to stick with mostly cadian pieces and conversion kits.

The Anvil Industry PASGT gasmask heads look like a pretty good match for the second art piece, if you're looking to distinguish them from Cadians (the first piece is pretty much exactly the Cadian respirator head). Alternately you could use the Mad Robot CDF w/ Masks heads.
The Anvil Industry regiments range guide also has a pic with Cadians compared to their minis- that could be helpful for scale questions.
I can tell you that the packs that come with the FW respirators kit won't fit properly underneath the grav-chutes. Both bits are meant to hook on to the attachment point on the center of their backs. You'll want to look for bits that look like satchels, rather than backpacks, if you're going for that look.

Do you know how well the Mad Robot butt packs would fit with either their gravchute equivalent or the FW one?

The reason it looked awkward IS because you didn't shave off the bit of plastic on the arms that are sticking out pass the shoulder pads. Look at my MT(beret guys) gallery and see that they look fine after the shave; the hellgun connects to the backpack, and the grav pack attach to the top of the back pack with some adjustment.

Unfortunately no, sorry. The Mad Robot guys are pretty responsive to questions, though, so send them an email.

Seems I've answered my own question there, I think.

Looks to me there's a whole lot of room on the lower back/butt of the Cadian
