I think it's quite possible for new space marine kit to be in mk8 armor like deathwatch models. Or maybe even a completely new mark armor.

Given that the timeline is moving forward and with the rise of the primarch, this is now more feasible. In the past it would take have made fluff sense since mk8 are very rare and wouldn't be standard issue.

What do you guys think?

I guess that would benefit GW in a few ways.

Obviously, they could sell new models.
They could make the new stuff slightly bigger.
There would be a plausible reason for people to keep using their old models, as fluff-wise the new suits are only slowly being adopted and the new power armor tends to be slightly bulkier than the old power armor.

Maybe given how rare termi armour is.

Chapters barely get any.
And those need maintaining.

A "new" generation of mk3. ?
Like a more modern mark up armoured for close combat and such,.

GW has been making 'normal' Space Marines in Mk.8 armour or with Mk.8 components for a long time. The current Devastator box is a more obvious example, but take a look at the Champion in the Command Squad kit (dating all the way back to 4th edition).

That's true, even in the tactical squad there is one torso that is mk8, but we have yet seen a full mk8 power armor suit til deatwatch came out.

On a side note I am not so sure the devastator kit is mk8

The dev kit says it has butrussed legs to better absorb there weapons recoil while firing.

Granted its not a bad idea but they not reinforced the arms too!

Mk.8 shoulder pads and arms look a lot like Mk.7, the major distinguishing features are the thicker greaves at the bottom and the high collar. Grey Knight power armour is a variant on Mk.8, but it has greaves closer to Mk.7.

(There is a Mk.8 breastplate in the new Devastator kit.)

Dakka flak kand said that mk8 armor is bulked, I am assuming he's referring to the deatwatch models only as the ones in the space marine kits seem quite similar in size to me.
