So the other day I decided to paint the old metal sybarite with poison blades I had, which is the model that got me into 40k. Tried my hand at a bit of a zenithal effect, love to know anything I can improve on for next time. Sorry if its a dodgy picture.

Might I suggest a wash? The edge highlighting looks great but the model seems to lack... I don't know... definition? Especially on the larger portions like the spikes, shoulders and forearms.

ok thanks, yeah I might give it a try, problem is those areas are really smooth so I'm not sure if a wash would do much?

I think it might tinge the colors, give them a bit of depth. Course I could just be preaching nonsense, better to get a second opinion.

Personally I don't think it needs a wash added.

It looks like a very clean and well painted model with just the right mix of shades and highlights.

It's not easy to make a metal model look so smooth, so well done there as well

Ye metal is tough, especially as these old models don't have anywhere near the detail of modern plastic kits.

Good job.

Thanks guys, I must admit I'm not usually a fan of painting the metal models either, especially as they chip so easily too

Great blues, and that base is fantastic. The crest seems a little subdued.

Thanks, the base was a bit of a pain considering its a metal model with a tab and that rock is Styrofoam but I like how it worked out. I think ill go back and try to brighten the crest up a bit.
