So after "finishing" my models so far

I've played a few games and found the army pretty slow picked up some more plastic crack for some extra speed and firepower.

Figured it would be better to post progress here rather than keep going in modelling and painting (however they've definitely helped me with some paint issues) so maybe others can enjoy in my ineptitude and mistakes. Enjoy things like being unable to base models and adding way to much wash.

Got some black done, time for some brighter colours and then clean up all the white (I get a little messy some times)

Not looking forward to wash, last bunch of nids come out more glossy than I'd normally see but as long as they all look like that I guess.

Cool stuff.

What have been your fav units from the games you've played?

You've certainly got a decent amount of reinforcements with this batch.

Looking forward to seeing more.

That's a hard choice, the biovore didn't scatter 3 turns in a row and killed (somehow) 3,1,2 marines, the zoanthrope lucked out with a warp lance and exploded a land raider, and some how 10 termagants killed 2 assault terminators in CC, praise RNJesus.

The mawloc however did nothing but finish off the last 2 devastators that the biovore didn't kill on his first shot :(

I'm hoping to see the genestealers do something interesting though.

Got some reds done, now time for the little bits of flesh/eyes/white clean up.

Nice. Be careful with genestealers in battle as they're quite fragile, you'll need to support them and make target priority difficult for your opponents. They're good in combat and will rip through most standard units. At the very least they're useful for outflanking onto objectives/getting line breaker.

Any thoughts on basing your army?

Getting close, just need to wash this batch. I'm already seeing some wholes that might need to be filled but I might look on ebay and save some money.

I was thinking outflanking into things like vindacators, basing is going to be interesting I think, there are 4 main options I can think of,

Transfer stickers, look fine and are relativly cheap but won't work with all the slot models unless i want to go through the arts and craft efforts.

Crackle paint, I don't think this will go over well on the slot bases, I'll end up seeing the divot.

Texture paint, would cover well and look good but it very expensive for how far it goes, I did this on my daemons army and went through a new pot every like 30 bases.

Good old PVA, sand, and paint, this might be the only option left, it'll take more time waiting for glue to dry but is cheaper than texture paint and better cover than crackle paint. Just need to pick up fine sand unless there is an option 5+?

Tabletop ready, just need to do bases but for now I'll play some games and find the gaps to be filled but there are a lot of pretty cool looking thins to choose from, exocrine, hive guard, etc

Current full army

Off to Ebay for now, I've got a tzeentch daemon and sisters of battle army that I might post before the next tyranid expansion.
