I've been collecting or considering collecting a couple of the various FW 30k marine models, and was wondering if there's a list of what's usable in 40k games and what's not, since at some point I might want them to be something other than shelf decor. I know a lot of the tanks and superheavies are, along with some of the dreads, but past that I'm lost. The specific ones I'd like to use are the Glaive and infantry level Volkite weapons, but if there's a list of all the 30k stuff that a 40k army can buy, that would be helpful too.

I don't know about any lists that would show that, except obviously checking the Space Marines codices. The only Volkite weapon in 40k that I'm aware of is the Volkite Blaster of the Techpriest Dominus, but it's another army.

Pretty sure the Priest in Cult Mechanicus has one.

IA2:2nd (https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Imperial-Armour-Volume-Two-War-Machines-of-the-Adeptus-Astartes-Second-Edition) has a lot of the vehicles in, and Angels of Death (https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Angels-of-Death) has Cataphractii Terminators & Contemptor Dreadnoughts in it.

Unfortunately there is no Volkite for 40k Marines (yet).

On the premise that the Ordinatus Minoris Macro Engines can be taken as LoW's for Skitarii, and that they have 3 Volkite culverins mounted on them each, I say yes.

But keep in mind, the Legion Glaive is very often considered a no-go in 40k, but that's really the only Volkite weapon I know that's definitely taboo.

Nuts. Maybe I can talk to the other guys at the LGS and see if they'd allow it.

Hm, I hadn't heard that. I know the fellblade is usable as a relic vehicle or something like that, so I'd assumed the Glaive was too.

Volkite in 40K was a line FW said they weren't going to cross, so no Knight Styrix or Glaive (but AdMech slowly seem to be getting access to it).

I met a guy a while back who was using Volkite as Grav in his 40k army. He didn't like look of Grav weapons and so was replacing every instance of a grav weapon with the model of a Volkite weapon.

That's probably the most reliable way to be able to have Volkite (appearance, not rules) in a 40k army,

Don't think that will work on my end, since I'm already using grav as both grav and mutli-meltas (don't like the look of the multi, and as so far I've never had any need to take grav....). Might still try and talk LGS into letting it be usable anyway, it's basically just grav for light infantry.....probably shouldn't present it to them in with that line, though. We've already got a guy using running orks with the 4th edition codex, so it's not like we're huge sticklers for the rules.

EDIT: Volkite Culverins are what, 20 points? That actually seems reasonable balanced since they're about twice as lethal as a HB vs hordes, give or take a casualty or two. Maybe crank it 25 for 40k to pay for the extra shots/range.

So, the FLGS is cool with taking 30k in 40k, so I got to try out a squad of devastators with Volkite Culverins in a match vs IG. They did decently, of the 3 salvos they got off, 1 only scored 4 or five kills, one scored about 8, and one wiped out most of a squad.
