Hey guys, I'm currently in the 3rd week of a Kill Team League, and so far I seem to be doing alright :p I'm looking at options for replacing my casualties. We still have to follow the KT FOC, but we are allowed to exceed 200pts. We spend our "victory points" to do this. Any way, I'm currently using Praetorians and Scarabs so my FA and Elite slots are used up, leaving me with Warriors or Immortals as my next choices.

I'm leaning towards the Immortals with blasters for the S5, but they cost 4pts more per model, where as the Warriors would allow me to field more models per VP spent. Both have their weaknesses and strengths. Just having trouble deciding the more "tactical" choice.

Thanks in advance for any all comments

Best,
Ederan

You already have S5 AP2 with the Praets, and while I get the draw for more S5 I would probably go with warriors for the body count.

The Imperium of Man: White Scars - 1200, Raven Guard - 110 pts, Imperium - 550 pts
Tomb World: Nameless Dynasty - 270 pts

I'm rusty with necron rules, immortals are 3+ while warriors are 4+, right? The question, then, are you seeing much AP4 in the league? Or is it mostly AP3 and 5? If 4 is pretty common go immortals, if 3 is more prevalent go with the warriors for more bodies.

I agree, this would be the better choice to build up your kill team. My only question is how many points worth are we talking for this new unit? I am not a Necron person but isn't it 130pts for 10 warriors and about 90pts for 5 Immortals? Are you taking a full units worth or have you got a limited amount of points to spend? If that is the case it might well be worth having a couple of harder hitting Immortals rather than one or two more Warriors.

As for rules; I still have to follow the FOC and all other Kill Team restrictions, but we are allowed to exceed 200pts. When we add reinforcements it can be just one model, but any other reinforcements have to be from that unit until you hit minimum unit size . As it stands I can spend my 4 VPS to gain 100pts worth of models. BUT that sets me back down to 0. Some players already have 7 and 8, with the goal to reach 10 then win your next game. I'm playing my next game tonight which will catch me up in terms of number of games, will get a minimum 1vp, and if I win I'm rewarded with D3 VPs.

So the dilemma is to keep banking my VPs, while my Kill Team slowly takes casualties and hope no one dumps theirs to up their kill team to 300 or even 400pts , or spend a few VPs to keep my effectiveness up.

Started with 5 Praetorians, 3 scarabs. Down to 4 Praetorians, 3 Scarabs.

Warriors indeed have 4+ armour, to the immortals 3+. There are a spattering of heavy and special weapons through out the league. Mostly AP2 however.

Played my second game last night against 6 plague marines with a plasma gun vs my 4 praets and 3 scarabs. Mission was high ground and I ended up tabling him. The praets did all the killing while scarabs grabbed the objective. Really surprised me because I haven't played in over a year and he was GW staff. In any case it definitely boosted my confidence with this list. Just trying to look at my options and see what you guys think

So a thought that's totally different. Can you only have one Fast Attack slot? Because Tomb Blade could be well worth it.

The Imperium of Man: White Scars - 1200, Raven Guard - 110 pts, Imperium - 550 pts
Tomb World: Nameless Dynasty - 270 pts

Yeah with kill team you can only have 2 troops, 1 fast attack, and 1 elite. At the start I was limited by models, and really wanted the Praetorians. It left me with Scarabs to full the points and bring me to 200pts even.

Speaking of scarabs. That's another tempting option. I can technically field up to 6 more bases. And so far they have been performing beyond my expectation. My first game was against another necron player who brought 5 flayed ones, 2 destroyers and a heavy destroyer. My Praetorians were picked off before they could get withing range, however my Scarabs took down 3 flayed ones due to having 3 wounds and 4 attacks. In either case, I now have 3 Tomb Blades and 3 Destroyers, and initially I wanted my scarabs to die off early so I can replace them. But they keep killing and surviving
