Subject: Squeezing a Hellrain Brigade alongside a Raven Guard CAD

I'm sure I'm not the first (or 1001st) new player to be confused by how Formation Detachments interact with the standard CAD.
I have a small (750pt) Raven Guard CAD and I'm about to invest in the Start Collecting Militarum Temptestus box for Kill Team purposes. This got me to wondering whether outside the Kill Team arena I could combine the Hellrain formation with my Raven Guard CAD.
I can't field Hellrain as an Allied Attachment because it doesn't fit the criteria for an Allied Attachment (1 HQ for example).
I *might* be able to field the Hellrain formation as a Formation Detachment, but only if it's not a Faction Specific Detachment (I don't know if it is or is not since I don't have the sheet from the Start Collecting box yet).
Alternatively I suppose I could make the MT my primary Codex and take a Raven Guard Allied Detachment.
See why I'm confused? I want to make it Battleforged. What's the best way to do it? All help gratefully received.

You want to really put this in general discussions or YMDC.
Either way you can field any formation alongside a CAD and have it battleforged. Allied detachment does not mean any detachment besides your primary, it is just a type of detachment you CAN have with your primary.
As long as all your units are either in a detachment or formation then it is battleforged.

Thank you. Very clear.
You're right I should have put it in YMDC.
Can mere users move threads?

I don't think I can move it - apologies - I was posting from my phone and clearly didn't pay enough attention.
If an Admin wants to delete this now go ahead!

I believe you can report your own thread to get it moved. I'll do it for you, since you said you're on your phone.

If we want to move it we must summon a being of great power that dwarves us mere mortals.
