I am a guard player, I have an army I am happy with, a couple of LR and some hellhound. I would like to have an allied detachment that would make sense, so a marine chapter would go togeather together and I find wolves fitting due to leman Russ, the character.

I want to include Bjorn for my HQ as he looks so cool, and I'm all for HAs that stand out from other armies, like Pask. Other than that, I don't know what I want to do with this. I image them as heavy support for the guardsmen in CC. Any thoughts?

Thunder wolves are your best friends for CC. I like running em with a Wolflord, or battle leader if points are tight.

Greyhunters in a pod or rhino are great. Give some meltas for good anti tank, or just run around grabbing objectives. I'd recommend looking into the deathpack formation.

See also wulfen, beasts of close combat but kinda squishy. YMMV in an allied detachment as they are also a good force buff unit with their wulfen table.

just my two cents,
hope it helps.
