Ok so ive got three ideas for lists for the 2k points warhammer fest HH event, which do you guys think would be best? (I'm completely new to HH and have no idea about what the meta will be or even what i need to be concerned about).

Is melta prevalent enough to put armoured ceramite on everything?

I've got the following available to make a list out of, but I'm finding that once i include the toys i want, i can barely fit 10 infantry models into the list.

30 custodes (1 has a spear) (conversions can be done for terminators etc)
3 coronus carriers
2 caladius
1 galatus
3 achillus

Here are my three list ideas so far.

Legio Custodes 2k points:

First, I think it's hilarious that you say you are new to hh, but have 4000 points of custodes. Welcome. Check out the radio free firsthand podcast episode 43 (I think), they do s nice job of reviewing all of the custodes choices. How do you intend on playing your list?

Lol, I've been waiting for custodes to get into HH, and I'm blessed with a relatively large disposable income. I'm a big fan of all things 'best of the best'.

I want to drive/ run up to my enemy, get out of my transports, weather a turn of fire, and then crush the enemies of the emperor in glorious combat.
Alternatively dance around the enemies flanks harassing their assault forces with my skimmers before delivering a crushing counter attack charge.
And I want to have some tools for dealing other custodes/titans/primarchs. I'm wishing that I had some anti psyker tools, but Sisters of silence means less golden armoured supermen.

I'm hoping to finalise the list this week, so i can get things built and get some play testing in before the event.

I think I like the first list more, with 3 troops. I think you run the risk of the opponent playing to the objectives and you not having enough units to cover.

Ok cool, few quick questions...

How worried should i be about melta?

Do contemptors tend to be alive by turn 3?

what are the things that I should be afraid of in the game?

Chicken and egg question, depends on the local meta. However, melta is pretty easy to get and there can be a lot of it. I would go for the armored ceramite.

Its rock paper scissors when it comes to melta and ceramite.

Once alot of people start taking ceramite, people stop bothering with melta, once people stop bothering with ceramite because it never matters people bring melta again.

My meta right now no one bothers with melta guns and just takes melta bombs so ceramite isn't worth it for me.

Custodes don't have to worry about anything, and ceramite woes are overblown. Still, the only melta you should bother with are multi-meltas on Rhinos and Javelins, and S9 meltas from Leviathans and machine killer vets.

Thanks guys, I don't think I'm going to go with the ceramite, and after reading up a bit, with the infiltrate warlord option, I think ill not be too desperate to keep the coronus alive, so its less necessary to worry about protecting it anyway.

Im not sure I agree with custodes not having to worry about anything, although i don't have any experience in 30k, in 40k I pretty much only play super elite armies, and from my experience every loss hurts that much more, and its not that difficult to take out 10 or so TEQs in a turn. Usually I try and stack feel no pain onto my elite warriors, but thats not an option with custodes, so I foresee them dying more quickly than Im used to. But then again, I might be wrong and 30k armies might not have many tools at 2k points to deal with TEQs.
