I started this project about a year ago and have been chronicling it on my blog (http://thelazaruseffect.blogspot.com/) but am going to start posting progress here as well. I was massively inspired by Blackadder's Thunderhawk scratchbuild, and started out fully intending to duplicate his work as best I could. Later on I decided to take a little creative license to Forgeworld's Sokar pattern Stormbird and try to make it my own.
This is where things started when I was Just trying to build a normal Thunderhawk.
This is what happened when I decided to take things in a new direction and turn this thing into a Stormbird.

These are the Thunderhawk style secondary intakes, there are two on each facing of the wing and I needed another 2 for each of the engines on top of the fuselage. Building 12 "identical" components was extremely tedious at times. Also added a shot showing what the fuselage engine cowling will look like as well as the primary are intakes made out of some plastic babyfood caps. The jet nozzle housings at the back of the engines are generic brand mouthwash caps, another trick I lifted from Blackadder's Thunderhawk build.
I'm going to keep this thread alive with a few more images of the expanded hull and side assault doors for the Stormbird. I built a a fast and dirty interior but may need to go back and build an access hatch to manage future mechanical components, LEDs, and servos. I also changed the shape of the rear og the hull to accommodate a Rhino loading ramp. I didn't like the flatter shape of Forgeworld's Stormbird hatch so I'm making mine resemble a Valkyrie's. These pics also show the four magnets I added above the wing mounts that allow me to easily remove the wings for transport.
