Has anyone tried the Murderhorde in smaller point games? I want to try this list but am not sure it will be very effective, particularly against armor. On the other hand, I'm also worried some people might consider it cheesy at 1k. Corrupting objectives with a horde of flesh hounds seems like fun though... Thoughts?

Daemonic Incursion Detachment

Command - Daemon Lord:

Daemon Prince - Khorne - wings, 2x greater reward, armour of scorn

Core - Murderhorde:

Herald of Khorne (would love to put him on a juggernaut with a locus, but have no points left)

5x Flesh Hounds
5x Flesh Hounds
5x Flesh Hounds

Auxillary - Daemon Flock:

5x Furies

Do... Do you just hate everyone?

I think you will struggle if you come up against an army with a lot of armour (IG is perfectly capable of fielding multiple Chimeras and Russes at 1000pts). I'm not sure what you could take to combat them (I'm not too familiar with the Incursion Detachment) but you definitely need at least one unit you can dedicate to armour (Is the Skull Cannon good any more? It's been ages since I've seen one played but I remember them being decent)

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Hahahaha I figured that might be the reaction this got... It definitely looks crazy on paper but I can't figure out if it's actually that ridiculous in game. Flesh Hounds on their own aren't super durable, although they're fast as heck and do some decent damage in CC.

As to the anti-armor aspect, the hounds CAN put out a decent number of S5 attacks on the charge which threaten most vehicles that have an AV10 rear, but it would be impossible to kill a land raider, dreadnought, deff dread, or something with AV12+ in CC without the daemon prince. I'm not sure what else I could cram into this list though, the Murderhorde itself costs 695 I believe, and you need another 35 points to complete the detachment. That leaves me with exactly 270 to complete the list, and I'd need either something that fits in this detachment, a CAD, or another formation.

Maybe a couple of Jugger Heralds with greater etherblades to mix in with the hounds for S7 (IIRC) on the charge and the loci for buffs to the rest of the army (hatred and/or +1 attack)?

I think I'd need around 1200 points at the absolute minimum to field the murderhorde and the triple skullcannon formation unfortunately. If I play a 1250 or 1500 game I'll definitely give that a try though.

Can you take formations from other books to fill out your list? If you can, then you could add in two Maulerfiends with a double War Engine Formation from the KDK book and have 10 points left over.

"War Engine" isn't a formation, its just an auxillery choice in the KDK decurion. "War Engine" is not its own detachment
