Idea here is overwhelming the opponent with tactical deepstriking.
The "decurion" rules are:
The Red Thirst:
In a turn in which a model from this Formation charges into combat, the model adds 1 to its Initiative characteristic until the end of the Assault phase. A model that has made a disordered charge that turn receives no benefit from the The Red Thirst.
The Sons of Sanguinius:
Any unit from this Detachment that is reduced to half its starting number of models (rounding down) immediately gains Zealot.
With Dante being the Warlord the entire list is subject to his trait - Descent of Angels:
Units in your Warlord’s Detachment with the Jump, Flyer or Skimmer unit type can re-roll failed Reserve Rolls. In addition, Jump and Skimmer units from your Warlord’s Detachment arriving from Deep Strike Reserve scatter D6" less than they usually would (normally D6" rather than 2D6").
Also he gets:Tactical Precision:
If Commander Dante is your Warlord and the mission you are playing has the Tactical Objectives mission special rule, roll on the Tactical Traits table immediately before deploying the first unit in your army. Dante has this Warlord Trait in addition to the Descent of Angels Warlord Trait.
His command squad formation gets:
Airborne Assault:
From your second turn, you may choose which turn the units from this Formation arrive from Reserve (no need to roll). All units must arrive on the same turn and all must Deep Strike. You may re-roll the scatter dice when Deep Striking units from this Formation.
Glory of Sanguinius:
Units from this Formation may charge on the turn they Deep Strike, but count as disordered if they do so.
The Core Formation gets:
Elite Strike Force: Make Reserve Rolls for units in this Formation from your first turn.
Storm of Angels: You may re-roll failed Reserve Rolls for units with Deep Strike. Scatter D6" less when Deep Striking (normally D6" rather than 2D6").
Stubborn
So in this list, 5 vanguard squads, a terminator squad and 2 furioso dreads drop in turn 1 with re-rollable reserve rolls. No one scatters via Storm of angels and dante's WT. The furioso's should do a lot of damage with either their meltas or frag cannons. Null Deployment is also a nice option.
Turn 2 the devastator squad comes in and should do work on any mC/GC, again no scatter deep striking. Or they could start on the field and the drop pod could just come in on an objective.
Also - Dante and 2 squads of sanguinary guard come in, with a very good chance of no scatter deepstriking or only scattering 1d6". and then can charge with AP3 or 2 weapons.
Anyone else fielding something like this? Has anyone played against this? I'm not sure what's better, since the list doesn't have a lot of vehicle stopping power, i went with chainfist terminators. but for survivability, ss are better. Obviously Tau are going to chew through this list with mass interceptor but against 20 other armies? Let me know what you think.

The Vanguard Vets cant charge out of Deep Strike, right? So they have a turn of being out in the open getting shot at with nothing but their armor save to protect them.
Also, do the d6 scatter reductions from Dante and Storm Of Angels stack?

I think so. One rule is Storm of angels. The other is decent of angels. One rule states that "arriving from Deep Strike Reserve scatter D6" less than they usually would". thats your new normal. the next rule - Scatter D6" less when Deep Striking. So I see them as stacking.
Also the vanguard are the cheapest option for the core that requires 5 options. Options are - Sternguard, Vanguard, Assault Term or Regular Term.
So they could DS within pistol range to a little bit of something. or could deep strike onto objectives or cover.

How do decurions work with formation only traits?
Dante's warlord trait only affects those in his formation, is that counted as Golden Host or Angels Blade?
Secondly, it only affects those with jump packs anyway. So Terminators and Drop Pods still scatter the normal (in this case) 1d6''.

If Dante is in the Angel's Blade, his warlord trait applies to the whole thing.
I really don't like the archangel's core. I like the furiosos, but i hate the other units you have to take.

I really like this list I used very very similar lists myself with great success. Won every game using Dante's DOA warlord trait + storm of angels.
You basically get all up in their face and give them a lot to deal with within the first 2 turns. Because you deep strike vanguard without scatter you should always place them tactically so that they can be behind good cover or can quickly run to it and prepare for assault the following turn.
Having Dante and company come in an assault turn on turn 2, you can basically launch an all out assault on turn 2.
Keep in mind that not everyone in this list will arrive without scatter.
The drop pods will scatter D6 for example. (still very accurate)
Depending on how you place that drop pod you could force the opponent to focus fire more on your dreadnought and thus limiting the fire power that can go against your vanguard. The vanguard aren't very powerful so they usually get overlooked, but they do well at taking out weaker unit and tieing up multiple units (they can assault multiple targets without losing bonuses use that!) and then proceed to have dante and company jump in to those ongoing combats to help mop 'em upl

If you're taking bolt pistols and a CCW on your vanguard vets take dual bolt pistols for the extra shot per model and extra cc attack since you have 2 ccw's. In this list I like inferno pistols so you can pop armour without a scatter. But I've given up on the golden host as a command. That and either cores are too expensive for an 1850 list.
