I have the HQ and two 10 man squads. What do I need to add next?

What do you want to play, the Assault Brigade list (more mechanized) or the Siege list (artillery galore)

From there you buy the relevant book (IA 12: Fall of Orpheus for AB list or IA Siege of Vraks for Siege)

I have both so I can do either. I think I want to be more mechanized though

I am more of a Siege list player, I think Vaktathi would know more about the AB list.

I know Krieg Chimeras are more expensive but still use the older profile, and they have some protection agaisnt immobilisation, wether that is worth the extra price or not is personnal opinion I guess.

I prefer the siege themed myself so that's kind were my advice leans. Ok so I'm assuming your playing a non unbound army which means your gonna need some troop choices. I'd recommend getting 2 command squads and another 2 units of 10 troops. Them plus your 2 units of 10 troops would give you the basics. I'd then recommend you put your HQ on a piece of artillery (best place for them in my opinion) because they can issue HQ orders to them. Or you could put your HQ in a centaur to move them aroud though I wouldn't recommend that because of how easy of a target that makes them.
