I need some help deciding whether or not I should spend some money for the chapter upgrade shoulder pads on all my models or just use the transfer sheets which I think look pretty good already. In fact, I am not quite sure which looks better or whether or not transfer are a durable or do they scratch off in the long term.

Transfers generally won't scratch off if you've got a coat or two of varnish on your model. They can, however, be a bit of a pain to apply to non-flat surfaces like the shoulderpads.

Does varnish make it look glossy? I don't want one side to be glossy and the other side not.

Gloss varnish for transfers will, but then you hit it with a layer of matte varnish after the transfers are done and the problem goes away.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
