When you say bubbles coming out one side of the nozzle, do you mean around the base of the air cap? If so you probably have water/cleaner in the threads of the air cap, just take the air cap off, wipe the threads off and then reassemble. Paint should never come out of the side of the air cap, even if the nozzle isn't sealing then air should go in to the paint cup rather than paint going out the side of the air cap, the only exit for the paint is out the nozzle itself. I guess you could get theoretically get paint coming out the side of the air cap if paint was leaking profusely out of somewhere, but I feel if that was the case the whole thing would be so gummed up with paint that you'd notice. As for the spluttering, yeah, if the needle is off centre you can get spluttering. Look down the nose of the airbrush and see if the nozzle is concentric with the air cap and pull back the needle using the trigger and see if the needle is concentric with the nozzle throughout its motion. If either of them aren't concentric, you'll tend to get some splattering and an asymmetric spray pattern. EDIT: If you meant the bubbles come out the side of the nozzle rather than the air cap it might mean you have something clogging either the nozzle or the outlet of the air cap, though it'd have to be a weird blockage to cause bubbling.
