Hello everyone! I have decided to give Renegades a go. I really don't have much of an idea of how to go about making an effective all comers force. The reason I'm going with Renegades and not Astra Militarum is that I would like to ally this force with my CSM and Daemons eventually.
So here's what I got. The command squad is going into the bunker.

The problem with this list is how many solid shot weapons your taking: since most things are BS2 in renegades they're real bonus is being able to take cheaper blast/large blast/barrage weapons than Guard can without having too much of an adverse effect, of course you've remedied this by giving them militia training but then they just become restricted Guard.
I would suggest you take a look at The Purge detachment if you want to ally to Daemons and CSM, the renegades ranged artillery really supplements cc orientated chaos armies.

Alright.. So I've taken what ya'll have said into account and rewrote the list. I've been trying to stick with mostly GW made models with minimal forge world. This new list is made using Seige of Vraks : The Purge in mind. The Command Squad and The Support squad will be inside the Defense Line.

If you're avoiding FW, what are you making your rapiers with? I've been trying to find a cheap but passable to way to convert anything into them.
|

IF you're using The Purge then you list is illegal because you don't have the two Elites required to use that detachment Also don't waste points on armor saves, or extra disciples for the command squads
|

I have a bunch of lascannons that I have left over from other armies that I'm thinking about bunching together to make the rapiers.
For the illegal list; I think I can just split up the Wyvern's into two seperate units and that'll fix that problem. For the extra disciples, on the command squad, I wanted to keep the extra wounds for "Look out Sirs" and have the autocannon to join in the autocannon fun.
Lastly, on the armor saves, just wanted an extra "umph" to keep the command squad alive and then I have an extra 10 points that all i could find to spend it on was the sub-flakk.
I suppose if I got ride of the disciples & the armor I could get a third Wvyern and attach it to one of the batteries.

Best option I've found:

The main platform works perfectly in both aesthetics and scale, and it isn't terribly hard to mount whatever weapon load-out you prefer given a decent bits supply. Three-four lascannon/scatterlasser barrels do the trick perfectly for laser destroyers, green stuff/pipes/power cables to taste.
Plus, you get 3 at a time, and some great extras with the unused sprue bits, for a slight discount over the forgeworld versions.

The Wyverns moving to elites is fine; it's what I do as well. Definitely agree to drop the armour, as it really isnt going to be enough umph against most anything. Keep the squad in heavy cover, with as much of your units/vehicles blocking LoS and providing an assault screen as possible. Autocannon in them is fine, as they have a decent BS to make good use of it (they'll make some decent plays as the game progress's). Extra Disciples are ok for the reason stated, but like you pointed out, they do cost what could be another source of decent firepower.
Keep in mind what you plan to ally with more often ( csm or daemons, and which types) to help you make these decisions.
