So I had a idea on the drive home and I thought Id ask to see if it seems too dumb to commit too. I really like legion pf the damneds fluff and ive been looking at their rules and potential loadouts for awhile. But I'm not finding any mix of weapons that I really like. I also have a copy of the deathwatch codex which has a lot of cool weapons not available to marines. Different load out options and can also gain deepstrike for all non vehicle based models as apart of a formation.

Do you think itd be to weird to use the deathwatch rules and weapon options to field a legion of the damned army? Itd be about just painting them with a fire effect around their ankles and boots and finding a skull looking shoulderpad from forgeworld etc. all the weapons would be the same as the deathwatch options, changes would be more cosmetic. Thoughts?

So basically, you're running Deathwatch, but painted and modeled like Legion of the Damned? Not only would I have zero issues playing against that, I think anyone who DOES have issues is being a jerk about it.

I have a 2nd ed all metal LotD army that I have used to play every SM faction except for GKs, because I own GKs as well. My 2nd models have weapon options that just don't exist in any single faction codex, although the new DW army is close.

So go for it, I can attest that it's both legal and fun.

That would be both cool and is still a good way to represent the LotD as an elite force, but an ancillary one.
