I was looking at taking some tanglewire upgrades for one of my fortifications, but couldn't find any details on the model or what I should use. My initial feeling is that they should be 6" long. I was wondering what dimensions it should be so that I can scratch build my own?

Thanks.

Quick reading suggests little on the details, but yes 4-6" lengths of construction are a good choice. If you wanted, you could use bike/cavalry bases, or get some sheet styrene.

As to construction - you don't need anything specific for the structure to hold up some of the wire, and chunks of sprue cut to look like fence posts or cross-beams is a good start.

As to the wire itself, you'll want to go to a craft store and look for 24 gauge wire. You won't need a whole lot, but it's fine enough it should do the job without snapping overly easy.

Once you have that, take a pen if you will, and wrap the wire around that. If your wire's made of a solid enough material it'll spring back and widen a little from that.

Now that you have the coiled wire base, work it into the bases you've already started. Glue it to the posts, or if you feel confident enough, a 1/32" drill bit (Be Careful, these things are Fragile as hell, but useful elsewhere for Pinning as well) and drill holes in the sprue pieces to lace the wire through.
