Finally getting around to building my rough riders I've been planning for a few weeks and not sure what to do with arms on the models. I won't be able to post pictures until later tonight of the one I've assembled, but they use empire knight horses, legs, and arms (with a shoulder swap for cadian shoulders), so right arm is lance and left arm is probably the shield arm. Torso is cadian, head is scion, with pistol holsters and knives and whatnot. Half of the models will have capes, the rest will have scion backpacks and one will have a vox caster (for looks). Two models will have flamers that I'm debating how to model, might try some overly complicated way of pointing them off to a side as if firing them instead of the normal pose.

The first issue I'm running into is that while the shield arm looks alright, the model looks a little bare on that side. I'm debating using sergeant chainsword arms, but I feel like having a weapon in each hand might be a bit much. Does anyone know of a sci fi shield that might work, since the empire shields have too many empire markings and won't really fit the part even if I shave it all off?

Second issue is flamers, how hard would it be to have them at different angles to the normal pose? Where would I cut stuff and angle stuff, will I need much greenstuff, how should I do the hose?

Any other ideas for making them look cool? I really want these to be a centerpiece unit, as what is cooler in a guard army than medieval cavalry?
