Hello all,

This is my first post here on Dakka Dakka. I've been around/interested in the wargaming hobby for 20 years, but feel that I am only now finally able to devote some serious time, attention, and resources to the hobby. I initially was interested in WHF exclusively, but became aware of 40K and other games about 4 years ago. I worked at Blue Table Painting for a quick 7-month stint (not as an artist), and was really exposed to 40k there. That is where I had my first few 40k games 3.5 years ago.

I have tried a few other minis games, and none of them interest me the way 40k does. Not interested in anything other than Warhammer to be totally honest. Right around the 2016 holidays I made the decision to slowly build up a Space Marines force, and recently settled on going for Salamanders. I just played my 2nd game of Kill Team this past weekend and had an absolute blast. Right now I play exclusively with my high school buddy/bro-in-law of about 10 years. He has Tau and...I almost feel bad about how I so thoroughly and utterly dominated him in our game

I decided to get on the forums a bit because I had several questions come to mind since our game finished a couple days ago. I'm going to need some clarification on rules, strategies, etc. Ironically, the thing I am most experienced with is the actual hobby modeling and painting. Not that I am any great master or anything, but I need way more help with the game than I do with my models. I have built and painted multiple complete armies as a commissioned artist in the past, never claiming to offer any level of quality above basic table-top goodness. I have often assembled/painted a model here or there, but never quite had the time, resources, or patience to really come close to completing a full army project.

In summary, it's a hobby I've always enjoyed and wanted to be more a part of. And now I'm just super stoked to finally be building up a force of my own, and hopefully playing the game on a regular basis.

Cheers.

Welcome to DakkaDakka Vase!

Don't worry about only having interest in Warhammer - gives you somewhere to focus on your first steps into the hobby

I'm no expert on 40k strategies anymore, but the folks down at the General Discussion board will be happy to help

Happy hunting!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
