So hello all, been playing and building 40k for about a year now, as well as stalking these forums. I've searched many guides and watched a few builds and its been a great inspiration for me. Many talented people here. Now I would like to share my own blog on the build. I chose Word Bearers because of the fluff and the looks and they just plain reek of chaos. Also on a strange coincidence, my brother in law, the person responsible for getting me into 40k plays Ultra marines. Which at the time I knew nothing about the history between them, so that has added some interesting plots to our games. Both my sons now play, the oldest plays Dark angels and my youngest is too youngest plays the space wolves... fun times... anyways
So first off ill start with whats on my table now, its taken me a fair bit of courage to even touch him with a paint brush but i think its coming along.

Thanks for the comments, finished a little more on the DP the other night, did the eyes and some metallic highlights, need to base and some touch ups and then should be done. I took some pics today of mostly my dark vengeance set. I will start with the Dark apostle, this is the first model I ever painted and modelled. He was hugely influenced by raz's word bearers and I followed his painting tutorial, as well as the impurity seals. Next is the Lord, cultists, and helbrute.

So... im gonna have to redo the wings on the DP. I'm just not happy with them, the colors are good, but the paint just did not turn out the way I want. It ended up looking a bit like flames, which I do like, so I might try and go with that... basically i rushed it i think. I'll Come back to it later.

Here are some shots of terrain i've built for the games at home, the first piece I built was made from cardboard and is a ruins, then i tried foam board, and i've mixed in some 16 gauge sheet metal and welded it together as a skeletal structure to build off. Theres only two problems with the metal, one its heavy, and easy to chip other pieces of terrain if the make contact. Two my one friend has magnets on his model bases, and i'd hate for him to somehow damage his models or paint job if somehow something happens (geomortis comes to mind). To texture the terrain I have used wood filler, drywall mud, and wood glue, also i use sand blasting sand and rocks I find out in the yard. Terrain is fun, I would like to expand into this hobby and design a whole table diorama of sorts one day.

Cool stuff. I really like the apostle from the DV set. I just hope his banner doesn't catch fire from the braziers on his backpack...
Nice job with the terrain too.

The wind is ALWAYS blowing near the dark apostle just enough to keep the banner out of the flames, but yeah I thought about that too after I built it.
