Hey dakka, earlier this year I was really wanting to start 30k, mainly for a more balanced game, and because its really coming back to our area.

However, I got sidetracked as I usually do, but I have been looking into 30k a bit more and it really seems like fun.

I really love wordbearers, I like the idea of lots of marines in blobs and tons of daemons.

considering 30k MKIV marines come pretty cheap, is it ridiculous to have an army that is something like 3 squads of 20 marines with apothecaries? With the WB's moral boost they might be a bit better than for other legions. Is it worth buying CQC weapons?

Also: I love all the chaos gods, so what daemons would work as the best allies in a Dark Brethren ROW? I just want to stay away from Tzeentch and would like to stay monogod.

Gal Vorbrak look awesome, what is the best way to run them?

(Note: I already have both big red books, just need advice on how to actually build a 30k army)

Great big Marine blobs is a totally valid way of building a 30k army - given that most of the WB bonuses are combat-oriented, giving them extra CCW might be worth it.

Personally, I think Khorne Daemons LOOK the best - as then you have a russet/red army. However, in terms of tactics, bear in mind that The Dark Brethren takes away a lot of your HS slots, so taking heavy weapons and tank killers in other slots becomes a priority - see if you can fit a Soul Grinder or some large scary tank-killing Daemon Princes/Greater Daemons in if you don't want to take Screamers.

Gal Vorbak are awesome, but they need a transport. Ideally this would be a dread claw, since all the other assault vehicles are heavy support choices!
