Looking to get into Age Of Sigmar and play some Stormcast and of course the best way to that is with the 2 starter boxed sets for both the system and the army. First off we have the list I can build straight off the bat...

220 - Lord Celestant on Dracoth: Tempast Hammer and Sigmarite Thundershield
100 – Lord Celestant: Sigmarite Runeblade and Warhammer
80 – Lord Relictor: Relic Hammer

200 - 10 Liberators: Warhammer and Sigmarite shields with 2 Greathammers
100 – 5 Liberators: Warhammer and Sigmarite shields with 1 Greathammer

80 - 3 Prosecutors: Stormcall Javelins and Sigmarite shields with Prime wielding Stormsurge Trident.
220 – 5 Paladin Retributors: 2 Starsoul Maces

Total: 1000pts

Here's a 2nd list with a few units not included in the starter sets....

100 – Lord Castellant: Halberd
100 – Lord Celestant: Sigmarite Runeblade and Warhammer
40 – Gryph Hound

200 - 10 Liberators: Warhammer and Sigmarite shields with 2 Greathammers
160 – 5 Judicators: Skybolt Bows with Prime wielding 1 Shockbolt Bow

80 - 3 Prosecutors: Stormcall Javelins and Sigmarite shields with Prime wielding Stormsurge Trident.
220 – 5 Paladin Retributors: 2 Starsoul Maces

Total: 900pts

What to spend the last 100 points on; a 5 man Liberator Squad, a 3rd Character or 3 Prosecutors with Hammers?

So what do you think?
Which is the better list and can any improvements be made, please note that I wish to keep it purely Stormcast.

Part of the question is how much do you want to spend? Both of the lists are pretty fair to play and will do okay. If you want to spend some money however you might want to consider going option 1, drop the lord celestant on foot and replace with Knight-Azyros and then for your battleline go two units of 5 Judicators.

Also, do you have a copy of the new battle tome? It adds a lot of interesting options and things to think about.

A very high level summary of the game stuff:

If you field a Stormcast allegiance army you get access to the ability to deploy units off the board and teleport them onto the battlefield.

Additionally:

  • your general gets access to a table of Traits, that provide nice little boosts like an extra attack on a weapon, or a bonus to saves if you do not charge.

  • You get access to several magic item tables (you get one plus one per formation) that again give slight boosts to the Hero carrying them

  • You get access to some mount special abilities, like an ability that means that for your Dracoth's attack a wound roll of 6 has -3 Rend

  • There are also tables for minor buffs to the support characters

  • It also has the rules for the Stormcast formations

  • It also has a lot of neat background which I felt makes the Stormcast both more relatable and more heroic. If you like the Stormcast I would call it an auto buy.
