Hi,
I'm rejoining the hobby after more than a decade of not painting (also first post here, hi!) and I have quite clear what I want to paint but I'm not sure if I can match intended color with citadel or vallejo color name.
I want to paint some genstealer cultists with this color scheme:
And I'm not sure what orange to use.
I think I'll be buying this starter set: https://www.amazon.es/Vallejo-VAL72299-Conjunto-pintura-acr%C3%ADlica/dp/B000PHCTRK/ref=pd_sim_21_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=GCHC8BHAJ2BXCZV0PXQY
And maybe the orange there fits.
but, for shipping reasons I'll go with citadel for any extra color I might need, plus drys and inks. So I'm open to suggestions on both brands.
I guess the artist is using some white-yellowish dry paint for the highlight? isn't it?
In case anyone is wondering the artist of the above minis (both design and painting) is Darren Latham -> http://razzaminipainting.blogspot.com.es/2016/07/genestealer-hybrids_2.html
Thanks!

Hi! thanks for your answer
I've downloaded the vallejo color chart and It looks quite brown. Isn't it? I never highlighted before so maybe that get's solved on that step but I'm not sure about the color (for reference, that shade would be equivalent to citadel's bugman's glow):
Thanks!

It's more like a dark orange to my eye.

Here is straight VMC Orange Brown as I use it on my Penal Legion. I didn't shade or anything just a little dark green for a slightly-camo look for Penal Legion.

Looks like the Rusted Claw from GW's 'How To Paint: Genestealer Cults' book. Over a Mechanicus Standard Grey undercoat, its a base of Jokaero Orange with Agrax Earthshade washed into the recesses. Next give the orange an all over coat of Troll Slayer Orange, leaving the darker colors in the recesses. Finish with a highlight of Tau Light Ochre.

Duncan does the orange jumpsuit in this video. If you're not using Citadel paints, you can convert the paints from the list he gives in the video.

I used Army Painter Zombicide Prison Jumpsuit, but their orange Dry Rust Effects is good, too.

I was also going to point the video with duncan out. He explains the exact scheme you are going for.

Hi, thanks all for the suggestions.
I watched the video (multiple times) but I'm looking for a lighter brighter tone.
I've also noticed that one of the main differences between rusted claw and the picture I have as a guide is that rusted claws have orange tunics over grey working pants.
The picture I hav as a reference is of models with less tunics but also uses brighter orange for the clothes *under* the tunic and some more muted colors for the tunics.
Anyway, I've made two orders one for vallejo colors that have some oranges and one at games workshop for some inks and some oranges (and the miniatures).
Everything is in the mail already so we'll se what I can do with my hability and the colors I get.
I'll keep you posted.
Thanks!
Me, picking some oranges and some minis:
