Hows everyone doing?

I have been painting my blood angels force on and off for 2 months and I have been having a great deal of fun. I decided to give another war game a try, so I ordered the samurai game Test of Honour.

I want to paint some badass looking samurai. I really don't have much experience painting cloth or horses because the blood angels really don't have much cloth and of course no horses. So I had a few questions.

First off, colors. I really want to use Citadel paints because I really like them. I was figuring on the following colors.

Red Samurai: Mephiston Red

Blue Samurai: ???

I have the other tans/blacks/silvers.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a citadel paint shade of blue that is similar to the image above and any suggestions on what colors have worked for horses for you in the past?

Thanks!

Also is there any special way to paint horse mane/tail? I most have experience with armor and helmet marines so I haven't delved in the realms of hair to much. Thanks! I can't wait to paint them when they come in and then show case them off.

Horses aren't hard. Mostly you put down a brown, then apply a wash of a dark color. For the tail and mane, a darker brown, the same wash (generally) and a bit of drybrushed highlights on the raised hairs.

Samurai armor also loves washes, what with all the fiddly cording involved. I'm not too current on the GW paint line, so I can't recommend a good blue.

Thanks I will give that a try! It is good to hear they aren't hard. I can't wait to give it a go!

Macragge Blue would be a good base colour for the blue samurai.

See I was going to use that but I felt maybe it would be to dark?
