So, I've not touched AoS since it was created, so I'm completely fresh to this game. Lately, my girlfriend has acquired some Stormcast (only about 5 Liberators?if that's what they're called), and with the AoS-esque changes to 40k coming soonish, I figured it was as good a time as any to break out my beloved ratbeasts and acquaint myself with the game system.

This is just a general asking of questions as to how to get started.
What do I need to actually play the game? Any rulebooks or suchlike?
What kind of models are good in a Skaven army? My current list consists of:

Queek Headtaker (not sure if he's still a valid option, if not, just a basic Warlord)
Warlord with halberd and cleaver
Chieftain with great weapon
Two Warlock Enginseers (pistol, Brass Orb)
80 Clanrats (one group with spears, one with swords)
20 Stormvermin
6 Rat Ogres
Packmaster
Hell Pit Abomination
Doomwheel
Warp Lightning Cannon
Poison Wind Mortar
Warp-Flayer
Warpfire Thrower
20 Plague Monks (which I'm probably going to sell off)
The old metal Vermin Lord (still valid?)

Is this solid? What would a typical Skaven army look like?

What kind of things should I look at for upgrades or magic items?
Anything else I need to know?

Many thanks for any help offered!

Looks good but the only bad thing is that the old verminlord is tiny next to the new one.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Let me expand on that and keep in mind this is all opinion.
Monks are solid, they throw lots of attacks.
I like stormvermin a lot.
I prefer swords over spears. The 5+ to hit on spears kind of hurts even with a few extra attacks.
Queek still exists as a legacy scroll. He's perfectly valid.

Queek headtaker is perfectly legal, but has no access to command traits nor relics.

You've got the tools for a very solid skaven list. My recommendations is that you split the unit of swords into two blocks of 20. With those clanrats, the warlord, the stormvermin in a block of 20 and 3 weapon teams you'll get a very solid backbone for 2k points lists.

For magic items your go-to item for ANY lord that can take will be the crown of domination/conquest. This itme allows you to cast inspiring presence even if you're not the general (or do IP twice or once and another command ability if you're the general). Ignoring battleshock helps your hordes a lot and lets them stay longer in the table, meaning you'll rule supreme in objectives for longer.

Play it safe and grab as many objectives as you can. Be prepared to lose in 3 places of power if you didn't bring screaming bells/plague furnaces/verminlords.
