So, I was looking at the GW website and saw the new releases for Adeptus Custodes. I also found the rules for some of the units in 40k. So, my question is, can i make a Adeptus custodes army in 40k that would be perfectly legal, and still use the forge world units?

Thanks in advance,
Archon.

Why do we ride atop these elegant craft? The better to hear the screams of our prey as we ride them down, to savour the fear etched on their faces, to taste the tantalising tang of their blood in the air as an appetiser before the feast. But most of all we ride them so that the slaughter may begin as soon as possible.

You can't use the Forge World units, (barring a 40k centric release of their rules from FW). You get the basic Squad, the GW Plastic Dreadnaught (or FW Generic/Relic Contemptor) and a Land Raider.

Damn, i really liked those models. Do you think they will be releasing more for the army when 8th edition comes out?

I couldn't tell you. I would like them to, but for now the fluff side has most of that stuff lost to time or locked away in some deep vault.

If you like the 30k Custodes, why not just start a 30k army of them? There's little reason why you couldn't ask if people wouldn't mind playing against that rule set. At least until 8th and the likely incompatibility of rules.

Well, i might do that. I really just don't have a clue as to how to get into 30k. There are so many books!

For 40k there kinda a super elite allied force.

They will cost a fortune point wise but are gonna blend alot of stuff if used right.

Check the 30k forum but youl need base book + I believe there rules are in latest alongside wolves and the thousand sons.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

If you just want the Custodes, you'll only need Book VII. But as jhe90 mentioned, you can drop into the 30k Forum and get more a feel for that version of the game.

We've even got a helpful guide.

I dunno.....I'm kind of betting the Custodes become the Stormcast (or rumored supermarines) of 8th edition, suddenly released upon the battlefields by the High Lords/Emperor/Guilliman. I'm expecting the basics stuff for 40k to just be the forerunners of the FW stuff coming over from 30k.

According to the 30K rulebooks, it is a supplement and is playable in 40K games. Thus you could play a 30K Custodes army in 40K. As for fluff allowences, as I understand it, Guilliman dud just light a fire under the Custodes to be more active.

The 30K grav-tanks no longer exist in 40K according to the fluff.

I'm doing Custodes/SoS in both 30K and 40K. Most of the infantry carries over (you have to skip a few 40K options to make them 30K compliant, but no biggie). The tanks are different - but that's only a half dozen extra models to paint to swap between 30K and 40K rules.

Actaully, the fluff leaves the door open to grav tanks. It states that they are no longer used, either lost to time or LOCKED UP, basically saved for a rainy day.

I don't play the current form of 40K, but way back in 4th & 5th people usually played converted Custodes armies as Grey Knights. Given their weapons it works, they have power armour guys with halberds, terminators, land raiders, Rhinos, and dreds. It's a good fit.

It's time to go full Skeletor
