Trying to make a fun list. I love assault marines and drop pods and the thunder wolf cavalry is too good to pass up. My main army is Tau. So wanted a fully assault army to counterbalance that style of gameplay. Thoughts on whether this would just be awful or not are appreciated.

Firehowlers are really fluffy but high Leadership, Fearless and ATSKNF are so common the Bloodcurdling Howl will be useless more often than not, not saying it's a bad list just saying don't hinge your plans on the Howl.

Personally I'd cut back on the Power Weapons and grab Murderfang, a Flamer Dread and two Lucius Pods to thin down any cheap infantry your opponent might have.
When I look at shooting I divvy it up into three types.

1. Pea Shooters
2. Big Guns
3. D Weapons

You have a lot of Storm Shields and they put number two to the bottom of the list. Which means your biggest threats are one and three. Number three is usually attached to something you want to kill with the Deathpack Thunderwolves.
Number one isn't a huge threat in its own right but will usually be attached to dirt cheap units blocking your Deathpack's path.
When your 500+ point bashing unit gets held up by a few lines of 70, 60, 50 or 40 point tarpits you know the match is going downhill.
Lucius Pod the Dreads beside the cheap units, don't disembark and use the fact the pods are open topped to burn the cheap stuff out of the way.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Sweet! Fluffy is what I'm going for so that works. How would I put dreadnaughts into this list as I don't think they go into the formations?

And what are Lucius pods?

I was definitely not going to rely on the fear. Though I do mainly face a Tau player and a Daemon player so hopefully so hopefully it will be useful against the Tau player.

The Lucius Pod is a 50point FW pod specifically for Dreadnoughts - it has no weapons but it lacks the "Once the Drop Pod lands, all passengers must disembark and no models can embark for the rest of the game." rule meaning your Dreads can stay embarked and have an AV12 3hp bunker or re-embark if they leave it and it survives.

To get the Dreads

*Take the Wolf Claw Strike Force - Get Counter Charge as a command benefit and fill the Command slot with Bjorn and the Auxiliary slot with Murderfang.

*Use Company of the Great Wolf from the Champions of Fenris supplement
HQ
2× Elite
There's two ways of doing this, the first method isn't as beneficial as using Wolf Claw Strike Force and taxes you ten points.
The second is Nabbing a Rune Priest or Wolf Guard Battle Leader to fill the HQ slots and using two vanilla Dreads or a vanilla Dread and Murdrfang to fill the Elite slots, saves you enough points to put the HQ on a bike and give him a shield or crank up his Mastery Level.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.
