I know I'm supposed to be thinning paints but P3 seems to be pretty watery straight out of the pot, and when I add water it goes on the model like it's almost a wash.

Painting is like having sex. Do what feels right. You can't really do it wrong. Unless you put your brush in the wrong pot, but you will fix that error pretty quickly.

I suggest using a palette. Although sometimes I grab paint from the pot and thin it on my fingernail thumb when doing detailed work.
